Our cap is the blind level with the Big Blind below or equal to 5% of the chips in play (10% of the avarage stack heads-up).

Capping or playing deep-stacked doesn't make play "boring" or "slow"... it rewards skill more.
Nice to see another that does this

7-12 players...5-6 hours...not slow???

Im pretty sure that most games that size only last about three hours. I agree that skill is rewarded more in the above format, but the time it takes to finish one tourney could be used to finish a second tourney.

There is some great information posted HERE that relates to ky70's method of a roundabout way of figuring out when the tournament should end in relation to the blinds. This is the method I am going to try this weekend since I get to host the tournament for the first time.

It's run however the host decides to run it. Normally, get ready for this, we start out with a 1000 in chips. No biggie right? Well, it's 30 $5's, 30 $10's, and 22 in $25. That's right, 82 chips! And the blind structure starts at 5/10 with blinds going up once an hour. 6 players last time took almost 6 hours! So, I am going to run mine much quicker if I can.

20 25's
20 100's
----------
$2500 in chips with starting blinds at 25/50. I am going to raise the blinds every 20 or 30 minutes (haven't completely decided yet). This is going to be a tough way for most of them to play as they are used to playing almost a limit style bet/call, bet/call due to the large amount of starting chips. We'll see.

I hope this works.

I Agree with the time thing...I get in 2 tourney games in a 5-6 hour period with 10 players
