That seems like some real B.S. :stunned:
I thought that they were supposed to provide a little buyer protection from the FEE'S they charge. Maybe they should lower the fee's if they have nothing to lose.

The same thing happened to me on some chipco's I sold, even though I have 100% positive feedback on eBay. I called them directly to complain, and they released the funds. This was about five days after payment was posted. Worth a shot.

Are they doing this for every sale, or what? If not, how do they determine which sales get the hold on funds?

Oh my... That is not good. Talk about a big case of "CYA" for PayBay...

    21 days? Eeek.

I have a few nice somewhat collectable personal items I was planning on selling via eBay in the next month or so, but if that is the case with all transactions, craigslist here I come!

I've had this randomly happen to me twice, both times there was no explainable reason. In one case I refunded the buyer a few bucks for shipping and the money was released right away.

It has to be a money grab. The longer they hold your money, they more they make. Even if they do this randomly to 5% of the users it will mean big bucks to them. Really sucks.

Had the same thing happen to me. The money was released a few days after delivery confirmation. It is a pain . . . I had almost $800 tied up for over a week.

I started getting those holds about 1.5 weeks ago for all my eBay sales.

i don't think it's a bad thing. too many bs sellers on ebay now imo. if it's a good transaction and the buyer dutifully leaves positive feedback, then the money is released.

the problem is if the buyer immediately goes into the wind without leaving feedback, but the seller can upload the tracking information and you'd still have the money within 3 days.

Any activity and/or feedback in the past 30 days? That seems to be a key indicator for them.

E-Bay owns paypal, and Wikipedia has info on some of the controversies with paypal.

Ebay just had me update my exp date for my cc on file and during the process they had me set up my ebay fee's to be paid automatically from my pp account. I use to have to go and pay them manually. Not that I'm complaining....I wish they did this a long time ago.

Had this happen to me on a 700+ item I sold they waited until after the buy left me positive feedback then it was released a day afterwards. A pain in the A$$$$ but it is legit since you are using paypal and there is no real alternative.
