Teen poker player busted for making counterfeit money

    9:01 AM, Thursday, May 18, 2006
    by Lianne Elias

A Washington County, Ohio, teenager was found guilty of manufacturing and distributing counterfeit money for use in poker games, Marietta Times.com reported. Shanna Lenox, 19, and her ex-boyfriend, Michael Hollingsworth, 26, printed fake $20 bills to use in place of chips in poker games, and ultimately attempted to spend the money at local businesses.

Lennox claims she was not aware Hollingsworth attempted to pass the bills in public, insisting she thought they were strictly for home games with friends.

When Assistant Washington County Prosecutor Susan Vessels asked Lennox, "Why go through all this trouble (to make fake bills) just to play poker? Wouldn't poker chips or change have been a lot easier?" Lennox said she didn't like change and had no poker chips.

She will be sentenced on June 9 by Washington County Common Pleas Judge Ed Lane. Hollingsworth is being charged separately.

Boy I am glad you posted this, I was planning on using a big chunk of the $250K in trophy money jldecarlo and I got off of Ebay as a down-payment on the house my wife and I are hoping to buy this weekend. Probably saved me a bunch of hassle, but now what do I do?

This ranks right up there with my sister-in-law calling the bank and telling them she wouldn't be making any more car payments because she blew the engine in the car by never having the oil changed. She couldn't understand why she had to pay for the car if she couldn't drive it anymore. Did I mention she was almost 30 years old and a high school graduate at the time?

They spent more money on the ink for the printer than it would cost for cheap chips.
Not to mention attorney fees. I bet the attorneys can now afford to buy nice clay chips with money they are making in litigation:happy:

When I was in college, we didn't have chips either. We used peanuts...or pennies...or whatever. Although, I think making fake money to represent chips that represent real money is kinda funny. Next is the story that Faux Clays used to represent fake money that represent clay chips that represent real money!

I can't wait till she gets out of prison. I will be waiting at the gate on my Harley.

I'll bring her a dozen roses and box of clay chips. Poor thing getting mixed up with a 26-yr old that doesn't even have poker chips. He's no man, he never loved her!
