    Contest is Sponsored by:

    ===============================================

    Until we get the "chips" point system finalized, I'd like to offer a contest for referrals to the end of the month of April. Deadline is midnight (central) on the last day of April 2005.

    For the most "confirmed" friends referred, you get a set (two decks) of Copag cards, comparable to KEMs. Second through fifth places get one Egyptian $5,000 plaque.

    All rules as listed on ChipTalk.net Refer-a-Friend Rules apply, except for the "chips awarded."

    ** There are two places to get your personal referral URL. At the bottom of any of your posts, a button called "refer" which you can click and then copy the URL from your browser address bar. Also in your public profile you'll find your personal URL at the bottom to copy/paste wherever you wish.

    FIRST PRIZE: A set of Copag Cards!

    SECOND-FIFTH PRIZES: An Egyptian $5000 Plaque!

    *** ABUSERS WILL BE BANNED ***

    I get IP reports for multiple users that post from the same internet address as identified by your ISP. If you attempt to win any contest or receive awarded chips by creating and using multiple accounts from one IP address, you will be banned from ChipTalk.net and you will forfeit all rights to awards.

    You WILL get the points too. Once I work out what a referral is worth, then we'll retroactively award points to all referrals.

    It's ok to have a family member or roommate etc to join and post from the same IP address. My wife has an account here. But if you are "stuffing" your referrals to get points or prizes, you will be flogged.

    well this may be an even "stupider" question:
    maybe it's just because i'm testing out that link, but when people click it, they get taken directly to a user agreement page. when they agree, they're told that user name is already taken. am i missing something? also, assuming this person doesn't really know about chiptalk, is it comforting/inviting to direct them straight to a user agreement form? is there anyway to maybe make that page a little informative for a 1st time visitor? i'm just thinking they may say "what the hell is this site first off?" so they click to the home page, decide they like, and then sign up. if they do that, i assume we lose the referral.

    that's a rather long question considering i'm not all that concerned with referrals...but curious

    We had lots of referrals, thanks to all of you. However, only one person qualified, and that is TomHimself! Thanks Tom, you had one referral that posted more then 5 posts. You are the first place winner!

    Remember, for a referral to qualify, You must have 5 posts, and each referral must have 5 posts. Each referral must also have a different IP address than yours.

    Almost all referrals were for members that have never even logged in. Two others have logged in, but never posted. Other than Tom's one qualified referral, only two other referred members posted, one post each (not enough to qualify). So, no 2nd through 5th place winners. :sad:

    Thanks again. I'll think of a better contest next time around... :roll:
