I have not seen the notice myself, but have no reason to believe that this information is invalid.

It kills me to think of the fate of all those beautiful $10 and $20 "POKER" chips.

Looks like today is the deadline.

Given that after today, the $10 and $20 chips can't be redeemed - is there any chance that the casino will sell them for less than face?

BTW, if anyone manages to do this, don't forget to "tip" the guy who suggested this by selling him some of each :)

What a waste. Especially since Vegas is not like Atlantic City where the chips retain their value. The obsolete chips will be worth ZERO once they're destroyed. Why not sell them for a dollar or two instead of destroying them? They'll have to pay more money just to have them chopped up, won't they?

Never happen. Just as likely that the US Mint would sell the old syle $100 bills for a buck each.
