Posted by the site admin just the other day:

Very interesting. When I first joined I was a little perplexed on the lack of being able to upload an avatar, etc. But I fell in love with the community here and tossed in my 25 bucks for supporter status, small price to pay for such a great community.

What's left in the chip world these days? Off hand, I can think of the obvious ones - 2+2, ChipBoard, CT, HPT, SKeen.

Any others I am missing? At least a couple of those seemed pretty quiet when I last checked.

I think communities develop over time with these things - will be interesting to see what happens with this new one, or what its focus will be.

It's not really "jumping ship" if you still visit CT, subscribe, buy classifieds, buy advertising, and support the group.

This site is no threat to CT, and the guy's local, so I'll be watching!

I think FauxClayNation.com might have been the biggest threat to Chiptalk in its eight-year history.

Fortunately for this amazing site and incredible community, there were only a finite number of those beauties ever made - and the recipe was apparently lost for all of time.

Just went back and found its origin. The Ted Forrest picture is one of my favorites. Thread

I'd guess it was up for a year or two after bmwguy525 and WolfPack made it in July '06.

I recall a couple years ago I think someone here (was it 99% Evil?) who started another board as a different option to CT. I remember joining just for fun, but never went back that I recall. I wonder if it's that site? I could be way off here.

I think that one was chipchat, which was shortly thereafter turned over to Gene at ABC. Pretty much dead last time I checked it.

I don't have time for multiple chip forums. I spend too much time here as it is....

Boy if that's not true. However I couldn't resist joining and posting up a few things. Fun to be part of "the start" of something new. Who knows if it will grow into a CT, but I wish them well!

Tommythecat agrees...a site with no bum puppets and slavishly adoring fans is nooker's vision. Nooker is a pro that plays in games tommythecat (and every other ct'er/bum puppet) can only dream of being in.

I may be in the vast minority here, but I don't see why another site wouldn't be welcomed. It could only grow the collecting community. It isn't competition, it's just another site. Before I found this site I spent thousands of dollars creating a mixed casino set of $1's and $5's amassed from trades on thechipboard. And by mixed I mean every single chip was different. I sold the set because it paled in comparison to what was shown here even back then when thechiproom was just getting things rolling.

You don't have to post there but no need to dog the place. I signed up as ChipEnvy over there. Haven't posted yet but hope to soon. I think the more people we reach the more options we will have to get the bestest chipes eva.

It looks like The Chiproom is a sponsor.
