Which beautiful Empress J5Design'd plaque do you like best?
Kind of hard to say without knowing how the rest of the set looks. If you are looking for an opinion on just the design, it would be easier to make the same color combo for each plaque so that people can focus on the design, not the colors. With that said, I choose bottom right.
I like the subtle sharpness of the lower right one. Maybe it's the bluish tint, but I'm on board with that one.
I think top left is the one that's 'truest' to the inlay design. Plus I don't really like those zigzag/star/wave patterns that make the inner border.
Clean and simple, just like the chip inlays. Would work for me if I had a tourney set of the chips.
Top left, the grey one. No brainer, just compared to the chipes.
These are meant to go with the Empress casino paulsons Jim acquired.
FYI - These were just initial mockups and the zigzag/wave pattern concepts are meant to compliment the shaped inlays found on the chips. If we go that route, they would probably need a bit more work.
Based on the existing chip colors, I thought that a blue/turquoise, gray or brown would work as the 5K color, so I showed those three. Again, just a 1st draft and each version isn't necessarily meant to stand on it's own, but rather present several concepts that could potentially be incorporated into the final design.
I didn't realize Jim was going to post them, but since he has, I welcome any feedback you may have.
Looks good Johnny, I like the lower left best .
I picked the top left just due to the fact that the text color matches the inlays and for the Colors of the plaques itself. Primary 100 and 500, secondary 25 and 5's have a lot of light blue in them already so I decided on the color that didn't have a lot of light blue.
Great work Johnny
top left , done, start the presses
I voted top left.
To be honest, they all look great and any of these four will be finding a home in my set.
Negotiating the rights was a stroke of genius and I hope this is the chiproom model moving forward (when possible obv).
I would say this is important too. On all denoms, the denoms font colour matches the chip colour. Plaques should be the same.
Top left design, for sure - although not necessarily those colors. Great start by J5, like usual.
Clean and simple, just like the Empress chips. Although I personally like the look of additional end-text on plaques (either denom or casino name), I don't think it works well in this case because the matching chips contain neither.
Gonna have edgespots/striping?
Top left for sure---
"Empress" text should be light blue
Empress logo should be gold
Denomination font should match plaque color
This makes the plaque consistent with all of the chips---
Sweeet! I am guessing we'll see designs for fractional chips and dealer buttons soon too!
Not sure about color but like the design
And we need some with darker empress logo and some that are lighter to match to chips dark/light inlays.
Sounds like these for a tourney...on board the blue plaque. Will look fantastico next to the the 1K, great work J5.
I've looked at those four options a few times now and while I like everything else about the top left, there is one thing that keeps catching my eye (and not in a good way):
I just don't think the denom looks very good as grey. I do think the denom should be the same color as the outer "ring" but just not grey. It just looks so bland to me somehow. That would of course mean I'm suggesting changing the base color of the plaque. Sorry... too used to talking about clay chips
The fact that the "edgespots" on the face don't go all the way to the edge of the face in the top left version is a very good idea imo because if the edges are to have the same pattern, even a slightly misaligned edge could look pretty awful. This way the visual damage is minimal.
How much would it cost to replace face of the woman in the logo with my wife's face?
A splashier denomination color for the upper left version would be nice---
