Looking for some help brainstorming ideas for a photography business....

I've seen similar threads on here with some great ideas, so I thought I would hear what you have to say.

The business is basically already started with my fiance and I doing a couple baby sessions and a couple senior pictures.

It is now to the point that we are not marketing or trying to do this at all, yet the word is spreading and we have several inquiries a month from people who want to know what we charge/when we can do their pictures. We are not prepared, but I've decided we are going to get prepared at least with a name, some cards, and a pricing schedule for now, adding on a web site soon.

It will begin as mainly seniors/babies, but will progress into weddings probably next year as well. Almost did one this year, but plan to actively try to get a couple next year, which should be pretty easy, especially with my dad running a wedding DJ business in town.

    So, any ideas?

    We are from Toledo
    The Buckeye State
    The Glass City
    Last name 'Hutcheison'

But, those are just ideas to use, don't necessarily need to include them.....

Ooh, "BuckShots" is a good one, except it sounds like hunting photography and wouldn't be appealing to wedding planners.

I thought of this one too, if the business ends up specializing in wedding photograpy...

There was also "Wholly Toledo" for a general one.

Though it's not at all applicable, "Chip Shots" came immediately to mind. Then it quickly flittered away, like all the other random thoughts I keep seeming to have...

    Hi Panther,

What type of image (pun intended) do you wish to project with your name?

    Fun, Serious, High-end, mid-level, etc. ?

Once you have the tone in mind, try to think of names that can create a mental image for potential customers. It's easier for people to remember. Especially important if you're going to have a website. You'll also be able to build a story for your business around this image. Or the better question, is there a story to your business already? How did it get started?

PM me if you want some more help. I can also give you some tips for putting together your pricing packages so you can systematically test your prices and increase the prices you get by 10-15%.

    Hope that helps.

    D.
