I just got some .25 and 1 Paulson World Top Hat and Cane chips in the mail and I was extremely disappointed to notice the warping in the chips. Paulson chips? Seriously??? These chips are gorgeous, but this warping is unacceptable for over $1 per chip. I noticed the posts about this issue from years ago. I have some more chips coming in the mail next week. Total bummer. Thankfully I went with my gut and just bought a stack of the low denominations.

I can't believe these chips are still on the market. Anyway, I don't know how to proceed at this point. I really wanted custom chips, but the sample chips from pokerchips.com are garbage. So I went the direction of Paulson's, but they don't have a 0.25 chip on the market. Anyway, suggestions would be appreciated.

So you're using your first post on chiptalk to tell people the chips they own and love are garbage. Then, why ask people which obviously must have a terribly bad taste, for suggestions?

Made by BCC (Blue Chip Company). If you want custom chips from BCC, prepare to buy 4000-5000 chips or run a group buy. I say for customs, go for ASM's.

I can see how that is confusing. Wrote that post angry and drunk last night. Aside from this random Apache custom .25 chip I don't know of an available .25 chip from Paulson. The Pharaohs have one, but I can't find them anywhere.

These World Top Hat and Cane are perfect in everyway (weight, appearance, feel), except for the warping. I don't think I can get over it.

Is ASM the pokerchips.com or pokerchipsonline or is it the same thing? The sample set I got from pokerchips.com are very light weight and a little slick. Also the side color of the chip does not match the top. This company may have changed hands since I was last obsessed with ordering chips from them. They used to have a computer program on the site for creating your chip. It is gone now.

Anyway, I apologize for the "garbage" comment, and appreciate the help.

Expect all new home use hot stamped Paulsons to have levels of warping...Wow, that was a mouth full.

I checked pokerchips.com website and they seem to have ASM chips over there. The best place is directly from pokerchipsonline.com, original source of ASM chips. Notice that every ASM mold feels very different when compared to the other molds from same manufacturer. Be sure to take enough samples of each mold, say, 6-8 each, so that you can shuffle them and feel the difference.

About the program, here you go. You can find ASM mold and colors from there too:

    If you play 25c50c

You could just use a casino 50c chip and play 50c50c

You don't need so many of them and can buy more workhorse chips

Generally speaking ASM chips are slightly lighter than Paulson or BCC chips, if that's a huge deal for you then it is a real concern. I've read rumors about ASM possibly offering heavier chips in the future, and the mold used also affects weight (more/less clay).

You should try shuffling the ASM chips to really break them in, see how that changes their slickness (they start to feel softer, almost buttery). Different molds have different textures, so that is also a factor.

The side of ASM chips will match the top once they have been broken in, or you can spread a drop of mineral oil on there.

I('ve) own(ed) many clay sets from the mentioned manufacturers, and must say there is nothing quite like a set of custom chips. Your only choice really is ASM unless you're willing to order thousands of chips. Even if you feel the weight or whatever is better on another chip, the possibility of custom colors, spots, artwork and awesome customer service / quality control could tip the scale in ASM's favor.

    And welcome to CT!

Also if you went the ASM route you can get fully custom chips for $1 a piece. That is if you go with solids....:)
