Went grocery shopping the other day and was saw something that inspired this new design ... what was it? I will award a sample set to the first person to correctly identify the inspiration piece.

Since the primary goal is to solicit feedback on the design to improve upon it, in addition to your guess you must identify something that you like and/or dislike about the design.

EDIT: In the interest of giving everyone a fair shot each person may submit no more than two guesses per day and each guess most be posted in separate posts. So you can't put two answers in one post. This will even the field a little if someone is about to post the same guess as you at the same time ... (a rare coincidence but it DOES happen)

I am very interested in your thoughts and feedback. This is, like all my designs, personalizable. Text can be changed and of course you can put any denomination on any available color, but it does offer one interesting personalization feature that I think is unique (no pun intended). You could replace the central Washington silhouette with one of your own! Maybe a chip for each member of your family!

Anyway ... let me know what you think. This is a version 1 prototype so any suggestions are welcome!

Was it the new Washington Quarter?

I like this simple clear design the way it is.

Washington Pancake or muffin mix? I think the company is based out of Ellicott City, MD?

Gary, I really like the textured background on the chips. For some of them it is more pronounced then others, and I would try to make them all the same stand-out-ness (personally I like the more pronounced ones). Nice chip again!

That is the first thing that came to my mind as well, as it is (was) right down the street from me.

I like the antique look of the chips, and the color pallate is great. I am not a fan of the large block lettering of the work "UNIQUE" at the top, as it looks a little plain to me. If it is indeed the Washington Brand of muffins, baking goods, maybe something along the same font (unless that would be a copywright infringement). Same with the denomination.

These are quite nice Gary. A nice, understated design that lends a lot of personalization to them.

    Great work!

No idea for where you got the inspiration, but I love the look of these chips! Did you consider dropping the comma on the 1000 and 5000? It's a small detail, but I think it could help to tighten up the denomination on those two chips. As for color combos and the overall look, these are HAWT! I also like the century gothic font you used.

No correct answers yet (but I am now feeling oddly hungry for porridge, pancakes and snack cakes) ... If no one has hit the correct answer in a couple of days I will try to come up with a hint.

I really appreciate the feedback as well. I will try to tweak the marble texture on some of the chips where it doesn't stand out quite as much so that there is more (to quote waffle  ) "stand-out-ness". I will also run a mock up without the comma's on the larger denominations to see how that reads.

I can't applaud Gene enough on his work on these either ... often the colors on the prototypes are a little off from the colors on the mock-ups and, at least judging by the photos, these prototypes are nearly DEAD-ON with the colors from the digital files. (standing ovation here)

I will get new mock-ups posted when I get the chance. Hopefully this weekend.
    Thanks,
    Gary

I got it! It's not even a food product. Is it the world's ugliest cashier?

Anyway ... I have posted the first hint in the OP.

    Happy Shopping,

    Sorry ... wrong answer :sorry:

I have updated the OP with the following new rule ... In the interest of giving everyone a fair shot each person may submit no more than two guesses per day and each guess most be posted in separate posts. So you can't put two answers in one post. This will even the field a little if someone is about to post the same guess as you at the same time ... (a rare coincidence but it DOES happen)

    Thanks!!
