Digging up an old thread here but speaking of expensive chips, whats the most expensive playable set owned by a CT'er? I know this can be fairly subjective in terms of value but is there a consensus on here of who might hold that title? I know some have a playable dunes set and some large vineyards etc but anything else?

what about Kadriks playable live Bellagio set? got to be up there??!

not sure if there are other threads covering this but I know there is a 'biggest' set owned thread but i didnt see most expensive.

I would think Berg's Dunes set would be at the top, if not in the top 2.

Based on values from Spinetti's, the Dunes tournament set is worth $12,440. It's appreciated nicely over the last 2 years as some of the higher denoms became more rare. I used a value of $60 for the 39mm $1000s (80 total). Not sure what Spinetti's would actually charge for them - don't think they have anymore.

I think the live Bellagio set is probably worth more in cashable value.

I think you'd have to include 41pickup's set of 1st issue Tropicana's in any discussion like this. He's certainly in the top 3 I'd think. I don't know the exact value breakdown but for a variety of reasons, he'd be my top choice. 1st issue actual casino chips, TRK's, etc.

This will sound oxymoronic but there are a lot of rare and expensive chips. Playable sets with rare and expensive chips are another challenge. In some cases, these kinds of chips are not ones you'd actually want to play with even if you could assemble a set.

I think Bellagio, Dunes, and the Tropicana's are all sets that are ridiculously high value but what really makes them great is that regardless of value, we'd all enjoy actually using them.

So by that (my own arbitrary standard), I'd have to give the slight edge to the TRK's.
