Folks, it's no secret that a couple of years ago I lost community support and subsequently lost interest in spending my personal time on CT. I instead focused on my home life, career, and the pursuit of my kids.

At the end, I expended a great deal of money, sweat, and tears upgrading and improving the site. Alas, without the community supporting me it did not help save the site.

I built CT along with the help, support and comradery of many people, some still in the community and some not. Some even no longer with us in this world. Although I have been urged to disengage myself completely from CT (from friends, family, and CT Mods), I can't imagine not being a 'part' of it because of the large part of my adult life it has consumed.

So I am taking the baby step of posting this official offer to anyone, or any group, that wants to make a reasonable offer to take controlling interest in the site. I'd relinquish technical control and controlling ownership, but would remain a partner and advisor. I'll want to remain a partial owner for business purposes. I would also like to remain part of the administrative team... I will always have emotional ties to the site.

If you have an interest in discussing, call or email me.

DO NOT EMAIL my old addresses (thecagles.com, chiptalk.net, lightningweb.com etc) or the PM system as they are still blacklisted since the inception of PCF. You'll have to email me at gcagle@gmail.com, or call my cell at 707-7CASINO (707-722-7466)

    Greg,

Just trying to be honest here, not trying to insult you... I think honestly the site might be much more valuable if you were willing to sell and give up complete control. I'm sure some of what happened to drive all of the traffic to PCF was out of your control, and i know you were going through some rough stuff outside of the chip world. And i think everyone realizes all the time and energy you put into your site. Still, the way things went down left a sour taste in a lot of people's mouths, and i doubt things would flourish here without you stepping away completely. Just something to consider.

Perhaps. But it's not about money for me. I dont want to walk away, and I want to have some fresh passion by vested owner(s). I don't have it in me to have sole management of the backend and front end. I want someone to place value on it and once there is a person/group that I feel is really really serious, we'll start talking about what the value they place on it is.

If its not about the money, perhaps you should consider the opposite approach. Rather than seeking an financial investment, you could look for an Individual or group who would be willing to dedicate their time to manage the site and rebuild the community. If successful, you could reward them with equity.

Greg - your OP made it sound like the community abandoned you, but in fact the opposite is true - you were an absentee owner after charging for access to what were formerly basic site features, and then the site was hacked rendering registration useless and devaluing the site from a domain/branding perspective. We only went to PCF because this site was experiencing outages, and you were the only one that could authorize reboots and fixes, and you weren’t available. I have sympathy for your family situation, but that sympathy doesn’t extend to your capacity as site owner when you charge for access to it. I’m a customer, not a community member, at that the point and that comes with certain responsiveness expectations.

I might be interested in obtaining the rights to the content with exclusivity but I wouldn’t want you involved in any capacity.

@bergs you do certainly remember the months following Oct 2014 differently but that's ok. I didnt post to rehash it nor to get beat up, but you have that prerogative. I concede that October was a bad time for me and the site and members; I apologized and tried to make up for it.

Your offer is declined, thanks for it.

I can't argue with your logic Bergs. However, at the end of my line I hope people judge me by my number of good deeds and the things I did right rather than my few misdeeds and what I did wrong.

Sometimes you need to turn the page.

That philosophy works until you start collecting payments from people - but i’ll shut up now as i’m clearly not going to have a stake in whatever happens here.

You have undoubtedly been a key contributor here. I imagine you have made some great connections through this website, and have some fond memories as a result.

I believe we can build a vibrant community here once again, but your decision will certainly make any effort in that direction all the more difficult to achieve.

There is a lot of great content here that cannot be found elsewhere. Your involvement could help this site turn a corner. IMO, you can't fix the other site.
