    These brass chips, which weigh a ton, are coming out this Sunday at the Hollywood Park Casino for Chinese New Year; Year of the Boar:

    I will not have any for sale.

    In fact the HP will begin selling them officially on Sunday, but only 2 sample sets per person, they take down your DL#.

    I was cashing out the other day and saw racks of these and asked the cashier what they were and she was nice enough to let me buy a set then and there.

    I'd love an 8. Talk about a cool card-cover!

    I know you said you wouldn't be selling any, but in case you are able to get any in the future, put me down for an 8 (red). Will pay by paypal + shipping to me in Toronto.

    It turns out these things are all over eBay - this year's as well as several previous years, as individuals or sets of 3 denoms. They typically go for about twice face value. I picked one up ($8 2007-pig). I'll probably start collecting them (maybe back as far as 2000, plus forward each year). I'm a big fan of "lucky # 8"...

    Think of all the markup and shipping you'd save if you celebrated the Chinese New Year in LA!

    Ya, but then I'd have to pay for health care! :stunned:
    And an active military! :stunned::stunned:
    And... well, you get the picture...

    *EDIT* Oh, I thought you implied "...lived in LA!" I guess I could just visit for Chinese New Year. Ya, that $8 chip will be my excuse to get a $1000+ plane ticket next year at this time...

    I just got a 1998 YotTiger (my sign) in trade yesterday, and was about to ask over in the Chip Identity area, but this is as good a place as any: who manufactures these chips?

    [Edit 1: Never mind; I confirmed my assumption that they're brass Matsui chips.]
    [Edit 2: The next Year of the Tiger will be 2012, which happens to be the year I turn 50. I'll be in line for these future chips on their release...]
    [Edit 3: Ok, so math isn't my strong suit. But wouldn't that have been a cool story?]
