You keep using this word, but I don't think it means what you think it does.

I cautiously disagree. As a producer of casino chips I'm sure they enter into very tight contracts with the big casinos and are regulated by gaming commissions. Part of their decision to leave the home market could be very well tied to contractual obligations. Take that, added to possible lost business from a casino who's contract is now violated and there is possibility of a case. Add to that the possible fraud that may or may not have occurred in the part of the GB and there would seem that damages could be argued.

Of course this is pure speculation, I doubt anything occurs, but I wouldn't be too quick to dismiss the possibility. Proving innocence can be very expensive.

I actually thought the name was a tribute to your Aurora set. I was shocked you weren’t in the GB.

I personally find these long explanation posts from Dr and the like to be very patronizing, like we get it, youre going to defend what you did until the day you die. This thread is about finding a new place to interact on a regular basis because the overwhelming majority of the community feels slighted, rightfully so.

I don't see Scott's posts that way really at all. I also think we need his strategy posts back. I don't think he has to worry about over moderation of them here.

why must he explain himself and their actions in such detail over and over again? the GB is over, i am personally looking to move on, I just want a place where it isnt over-modded and posts arent deleted on a regular basis.

This is the last thing I’ll post regarding everything that has transpired lately....

I've heard from numerous members of the GB and direct friends of people that participated in the group buy. On one point, they all universally agree. Tommy coordinated the Paulson group buy. Tommy also runs the largest chip community board in existence today.

Essentially, we have the owner of the largest gathering place for chip aficionados deciding who was in the secret group buy, and who was out. If any other member had coordinated the group - even a moderator - it wouldn't result in the feelings that we have now within the community. A lot of long-standing and prolific posters are wondering whether their content is truly appreciated. Some friendships have been hurt over this. A lot of people are wondering what else they're missing. Basically, it's destroyed the feeling of community.

As this whole thing was playing out, the moderation on PCF started to get ridiculous. I have to imagine that it was because of a sense of growing concern or paranoia among Tommy and the moderators regarding what the net effect of the group buy would be on the community when it finally got out.

One thing I want to make crystal clear - until I was banned, I never posted on PCF or ChipTalk or on any site about the group buy. I did nothing to derail any GB attempts. Despite being asked by multiple people via PM here, I never distributed any of the many pictures of the chips or proofs that were forwarded to me. My initial thread here that complained about the moderation over at PCF mentioned the GB in passing, just from a causal perspective as I believe it was a major factor in the paranoia that the mods demonstrated throughout late 2017. If I wanted to blow up the group buy, it would've been obviously easy to do so. I did not engage in that activity because it frankly didn't matter - the damage to the community was already done.

I don't hold any ill will at all to the GB participants. The fracture within the chip community is all on Tommy, and the moderators to a lesser but still significant degree, in my opinion. You've got a lot of hurt community members and the condescending posts from pltygst, BG, and other mods did nothing to further the conversation or add levity to make things better. Neither did it help that seemingly 1/3 of the posts in the PCF thread were around the semantics associated with Rainman's concerns about chip sales and chip value. Dude, buy a vendor forum and call it a day. LOL!

I'm not an attorney so I can't add anything to the conversation around legal concerns except to share this - for a group that keeps indicating that there is no threat of a lawsuit or legal action, y'all sure did keep my inbox full after my first thread here with pleas to take out the GB content because Tommy and others could get hurt.

It's not my hope that anyone gets hurt legally because of this. I do hope that the community eventually heals and gets back to what it was. That was the real point of my original thread here, even after I was banned. I wanted to call the moderation out in the hopes that it would eventually get better. I'm not sure that's possible now - that Rubicon may have already been crossed. Hopefully I'm wrong.

As for me, I have the chips I want and I know how to get more customs if I need 'em. I won't be participating here or on any other chip-related forum and am pursuing other interests (including more live poker) but I wish everyone here the best going forward.

Paulson exited the home market for a reason. Probably not just to be dicks, but a valid business decision reason. Company's, smart ones at least, don't just arbitrarily make decisions that affect the sale of their products. This kind of behavior (GB) completely disrespects their business and decisions on how they run their business, and as referenced above, it may be a reason that involves them losing business because security around their products is not what they advertise. I've seen some posts that hoped something like this GB would entice Paulson back into the home market, but I think it may have the opposite effect.

You have misunderstood what was said. I had already sent a pm to AKchip about the Aurora Star name. We had already come up with the name before AKchip posted his thread about his new custom set. The chips were already in the process of being made. AKchip has a great custom set and a killer name.

I have no idea when the group buy started working on their chips. Mine were worked on and ordered November 2015 received somewhere around March 2016.

Tommythecat just posted that he is leaving PCF. Is there a new home I'm not aware of?

CPC has been quiet on this or maybe I missed the post. I can't imagine they felt good about it. We'll never know but I have to wonder how many of those 300k chips would have been orders for them otherwise.

At first I thought Jim would have been all over this as a businessman but when I saw his posts it became obvious. He would never want to risk all of the time and effort he's spent with various state commissions for just one deal. I'm sure he is freaking a little that his name is even associated with the site.

I also wonder if they tried to have that money and get the WTHC chips resurrected if they would have been successful. Could have been a great ongoing thing.

I can't believe I'm posting on CT again

Apache Poker Chips reiterated the same thing a few pages later as well, wonder why there aren't any sets for sale yet, anyone find that weird or is it just me.
Maybe a little unrest within the GB

If that's not the truth!! No idea who they are, but every time they posted something it was like they were talking to people they felt were way beneath them. Everything that pltysgst posted was some kind of snide "I'm better than you are" post. And then he had the audacity to post in a thread where he said he only likes real casino chips and not fantasy or custom sets. The nerve...

I commented on this in PCF and I’m sure it’s deleted. CPCs most loyal customers work up a very questionable scheme to buy hundreds of thousands of competitor chips. I can’t imagine how many CPC orders have been scrapped due to this. CPC = SUCKERS!!!!

From what I heard TCR has to overcome tons of legal hurdles to get used hooker juiced Paulsons. TCR = SUCKER!!!!

To those who looked up to the PCF top tier chippers involved and purchased their scraps at high prices when they KNEW what was happening... SUCKERS!!!

Lots of Suckers in this situation. Many sold their soul to the chip devil....

Then you would have chosen Aurora before us, but I don't recall if you ever mentioned it on the forum before you revealed the chips. Anyway, I feel if your name had been known, our name would not have been chosen. But it doesn't bother me to know that a different Aurora set is out there. Your set is not diminished in any way. It's a great set.
