For me it's not the story itself. Like you said, we applaud ebay/craigslist/garage sale/etc. scores, and still very much do. What aggravates me is the hugely unncessary need to make up things that cannot be substantiated or have huge inconsistencies. Why do something like this? Is it trolling? Is it that some people are pathological liars? Are these chips stolen, or god forbid is the original owner at the bottom of a lake somewhere? I've seen these kind of stuff on other less reputable forums, but on PCF/CT? I just don't get it.

John Boy on PCF was called out not only for the inconsistencies in how the chips were obtained, but his antics on other threads, screaming, posting nonsense, which combined with the original PNY chip discussions resulted in his low credibility.

But anyway, I await the exciting conclusion of PNY gate.

My scenario involved John Boy posting his threads online while wearing the orginal CTer's severed face skin as a mask.

It isn't shocking for all the bids to happen in the last minute, so don't judge by the early lack of interest. I suspect chip auctions aren't anything like your other auctions.

I rarely bid other than snipe/bid and I am not alone in this. I remember plenty of auctions that looked untouched only for fireworks to break out in the last ten seconds and break my heart.

Also I lack discipline and over bid when I don't snipe at the last moment -=- DrStrange

Probably the absolute most definitive way to prove that Chip Magnet is not John Boy is for him to create a PCF account as Chip Magnet, and let the software sort it out....

To fail or refuse to do so would be pretty damning in my eyes. Willing to withhold judgement until I see it.

I don't think you can fault that logic as long as the software can work it out as you say. Magnet? You up for that?

Or ..... to meet Stratus in person to sell the chips man to man, like they apparently have planned on the phone.

I think it is unwise for anyone to buy expensive chips outside of Ebay in these circumstances unless it is face to face. Caveat emptor. At least with Ebay you have the buyer protections. Which, in these circumstances, you may want to be very familiar with.

That won't prove that Chip Magnet isn't also John Boy, who posted some pretty vile insults.

No it won't that's unlikely to ever happen, how can you prove someone is someone else whom you know little about. I think we've proven beyond reasonable doubt that Chip Magnet has the chips or access to them at least. Whether he'll sell them to me in person is another question.

I mean ANYONE on these forums could have created John Boy. That's no more far fetched than me being him or he somehow hijacking my account. When you start going down that road you're chasing shadows and it's a long road to go down.
