I am not sure if this is the right place to post this.
I didn't see any general chat sub forum.

I was wondering if anyone has previously taken in the Global Gaming Expo.
    G2E. In 2013 this is being held Sept 24 - 26

G2E 2013 ? Casino Industry Event, Exhibition & Conference ? Global Gaming Expo - Global Gaming Expo

The conference is intended for Casino professionals but there is no restriction.
This is where all the new games are introduced and demo'ed. Some (most) will never make it into the casino but they are all on display and playable. Loads of fun. The catering displays (chains vie'ing to get into the casinos) are abundant. Miles of shrimp, even the food from Panda Express was fresh (and all free). IGT were handing out the hi-test (vodka, Rum, etc) slurpees. They had lots of wine producers demo'ing their wares. I won't even start expunging the large assets of the booth babes they hire for this event.

In the past years you could get a free attendees pass from Slot Tech Magazine.
I last attended in 2010 and registered as a VP Marketing from a casino in the Dominican that a friend of mine runs. No one does any background checking but VP Marketing certainly garners attention and hosting. Steve Wynn had a kick off party one night that was pretty extravant.

Dave Barry was one of the keynotes. I also saw him at the 2012 Gartner data center conference. He was pretty funny.

About the only thing that cost extra was the behind the scenes tours of some of the casinos. I would have sprung the extra $800 for the security tour of Ceasars.

Mikohn which I am not sure is still in business - they were bought out by Progressive Gaming International who I think was then absorbed by IGT.

To make a long story short Mikohn was demoing their RFID embedded chips and tables that knew what size of stack you had. Lots of free give aways. I wasn't looking at the time but I would suspect there would have been many chip makers and the like.

Here is a picture of the show floor - note the several chips hanging from the ceiling.

Interesting...thanks for the info. This is one show I would love to go to since I'm a sample collector. Every year I see collectors showing off their haul from this show. Unfortunately I wouldn't be able to get to Vegas any time soon.

If you plan to go this year and pickup anything you want to share, let me know.:)

I never attended the G2E before but there's a good chance that I have to this year.

Went to the ICE in London in 2011 and 2013 as a consultant for a casino equipment company, and these big exhibitions are phenomenal.

Lots of conferences, new games introductions, and smiling hostesses everywhere.

The only boring thing, imho, is that 80% of the space is dedicated to online gambling. Also, too many slots for my taste. :stunned:

Nice pics! Are those racks of sample for people to take? Those plaque would be gone in no time.

Can't say, I didn't have enough time to ask. Just took quick pics while running between appointments.
If you worked for a casino purchase department there's a good chance, not sure for an average Joe though.
