I'm the beneficiary of two great "request to hire" transactions.

    kmalsom
is designing a hotstamp for me.

machinelf designed a custom T shirt design and logo for me.
    see linky: http://www.chiptalk.net/forum/custom-chip-gallery/46264-my-t-shirt-design-machinelf.html

Both have been a pleasure to work with, had more than fair "fees," and I think are great designers. In both cases I explained a concept and asked them to build upon it. I would recommend both.

A while back (heck...seems like FOREVER ago), BlakeC27 did a bang-up job helping me label my Nexgens. He's the man! :) Superior communication, top-notch designing, and an all-around great guy to deal with.

Blake: I know you've got other priorities right now, but I want you to know that I really miss seeing your designs here....a lot.

Blake did the inlay for my custom ASM cash set and did my ceramic tourney set. Both design's were exactly what I was looking for. I'm sure he was sick of all the changes I had him do but they turned out fantastic.

Blake also made me a very nice label design for my original set of FCs.

Blake did a fantastic job on my custom ceramics. He took a general idea, and came up with something far better than I ever imagined. He was very willing to make changes until we got it right.

    Highly recommend Blake.

J5 optimized the calligraphy art I sent him for use as a hotstamp die...he tweaked it to avoid problems common with hotstamps (too thin, too thick, not enough space, too much space...all these factors I have no experience with) and the final product was spectacular.

    Hooray for J5!!! :)

I'd like to praise Johnny5 and kmalsom.

J5 has done amazing work here, including the two OG Matsui Group Buys. The Zen Set and The Blue Sands Set. Both designs are top notch and utilize color matching that was PERFECT. He is a true professional and you will not be disappointed in his work or his communication during the processs.

Kari designed the Custom Chipcos for my wedding and was a dream to work with. His work is beautiful and he can even create a 3d mockup to show your chips in stacks. Part of my Chipco set was a non denom that had a custom lion head sillouette in place of the denom. That lion head is now the center piece for the current Matsui GB.

I highly recommend either of these amazing designers.

I would recommend both c32077 and BlakeC27. Both made great designs for me. Both had great communications.

However, I would not limit my options. There are a lot of great designer's on this website.

    Peace Out!

Just found this thread. I sing the praises of austin5String (designer) and jsmithjr732 (stamper), who created the masterpiece that is my Timeless ASM custom hotstamp set. Both Johns are highly, highly recommended.

    To quote Concrete Schoolyard:

    "Gotta be J5"

Johnny5 does great work, is excellent value for money and has been really patient and accomodating throughout my chips' design process - despite my inexperience, constant mind-changing/umming and ahhing!

Kmalsom did amazing work on both my custom ASM sets as well as the custom design for original the Lone Star Roundup.

Johnny5 did an incredible hotstamp design for the Windy City Blowout II custom T-mold tourney set.

Imthatguy did terrific work for the custom plaque design for the Windy City Blowout III event.

I don't believe she's a member here, but Debbie Meister from CC&GTCC and active on thechipboard.com did beautiful work on my custom Chipco set.

It's a very interesting process. I am currently working with J5 on my first custom design (hot stamp Paulson). While I've never worked with John before, obviously his reputation around CT has become legendary. Unfortunately for me, John is in very high demand and the process is slower than I planned for. Unfortunately for him, I am the customer from hell (indecision, changes etc...). I have to say J5 has been VERY patient with me and has NEVER made me feel rushed. I don't have my finished product yet but I'm close and J5 has been great.
