Not sure whether this is saying more about the Borgata, or about the WPT...

    [From thepokeratlas.com]

The World Poker Tour has dropped the Borgata Winter Poker Open from its Season 7 schedule. The Winter Poker Open main event now has a $3,200 buy-in, a big reduction from the $10,000 WPT buy-in.

Wow, that's a significant drop. Must be a reflection of the economy.

Is it just me or is the WPT unravelling like a ball of yarn?

There was a 2+2 thread about this a couple weeks ago and someone said the Spring Foxwoods might be getting canceled too. That is weird since Foxwoods has a WPT sponsored poker room. :?

I'd be very surprised if that happened, unless you're saying the WPT would cancel coverage of it, not that foxwoods would cancel it.

I'm talking about the WPT coverage, but as far as Fox is concerned it wouldn't surprise me if they too lowered the buyin amount considerably to get more bodies with the absence of the WPT.

On an episode of "The Mouthpiece"(Mike Matusow's video segment on cardplayer) he says about how WPT is a sinking ship because they never change anything and that they should try to keep things fresh. I guess this confirms his belief. I bet more cancellations are on the way in the future.

The talk that I heard is that the fall WPT event will still be happening. The WPT droped down to one event at The Borgata. Being that there stock is at .50 a share they cannot be doing that well. 3 years ago it was $25.00 a share.
