I have DG pink base for my .25's and DG yellow for my 5's. In regular use there is no problems with them...I certainly wouldn't call them brittle. The only colour I have had any problems with is Arc Yellow (my $3 chip)...every one is a spinner but not so bad as to make them unplayable.

As to the weight thing, I honestly can't tell the difference. But I have handed people a stack of each and asked which is lighter (with their eyes closed) and every time the pick the DG. Will you notice it in regular play? Not in my opinon. The other funny thing with the ASM chips is that as they get played the get a heavier feel, almost like a Paulson.
