Michael Dambach has been kind enough to send out some pictures unfinished customs. I thought it would be fun to gather them in one thread.

I'll start. I had a third rack of my quarters made, and Michael graciously sent me two pics. The first shot is before the final molding, and the second is after the final mold but with unfinished edges. It should be obvious why the edges need to be finished! The third shot is the rack of finished chips after I wiped the dust off the edges with a damp cloth (they feel cleaner but look the same), and the last shot shows barrels of unoiled chips from this run and oiled/used chips from the first run. Base color red, spots 414 bright white. The faces of red chips do benefit from being oiled, but not nearly as much as the edges.

Brilliant thread idea! I can't wait to see more (and add my own here).

Really what I would LOVE to have is a chip from my own order in a state like your first and second photos (spots in but not pressed and pressed but not lathed). I have players in my game wonder why some of the spots look the way they do and why they aren't "perfect" and would want to put in-process chips in front of them to show the torture our beloved preciouses go through before they see the felt.

...why are you all getting so nice pics? I'm sure ASM hasn't started working on my order although they should have been shipped last month...

This would be awesome...having all steps available and framed as a production set. Actually, this is exactly what I thought I paid for a few years ago as a limited offer deal...but I won't get into that again.

Awesome picks, and I now have a "Chip production" folder on my desktop to show my players exactly what goes into the making of "real" poker chips. Thanks for sharing and starting this thread.

Wow, that is really cool. Thanks for sharing. I thought Bright white was off the table? Did they just allow it because it was an add on order?

Based on my email exchanges with ASM, the order I just placed uses the last of the bright white, so I assume that means it's off the table for future orders unless Michael finds more.

Those play-doh pics are sweet. Would definitely be cool to frame with the finished product.

I hope to get some pics with my order. I guess asm is pretty busy, but i wish they would do a better job with responding so i can actually place it. :stunned:

I had an email from Sallie earlier this afternoon about 48 hours after placing an order. Granted, I knew what I needed (add-ons to previous orders) with one question for Michael folded in there too.

I'm not sure where a difficulty might be coming from.... :?:

This is an awesome thread. Thanks Abby for showing this. I never had any clue what the process looked like, and your sets are some of my all time favorites, especially the BCC set you did. I definitely love both of them, but I go look at that set probably once a week.

I dont have any pics, but I turned a buddy of mine onto ASM. He has started to host a home tourney once a month and ordered a set. They are supposed to be here anytime. I will take some pics at the next tourney.
