Wow, those are gorgeous chips, Paul.

This is one area of collecting that I don't know anything about. I think I'll just watch from the sidelines and enjoy the show.

I'm still collecting. Here's a bunch that just came in my mail. The yellow and black chip on the top are the only samples I've seen with that old Paulson logo.

Dang ... how is it I've never stumbled across this thread? Great pics! I used to be proud of my Paulson samples; now by comparison, not so much. :sorry: Awesome additions there, gmunny.

Okay, so here's my Paulson-only set of sample chips. I originally started collecting these for my own educational and identification purposes, but soon realized there's quite a variety of these to be had. So collecting them has sort of become a side hobby for me, as they pop up from time to time. In fact, missing from this photo are three more chips that I just picked up on ebay: $5, $25 and $1000 GPI chips. So, without further adieu ...

Thanks for posting those pics, Moose! Love that Paulson/GPI chips!

Thanks, Paz! Still love to have a small crown inlay, now. I rarely see those for sale, though!

I'm actually surprised to see so many samples that have been notched or drilled. Who would have done that? Paulson (seems to only be the Paulsons that are cancelled)? The casinos they were left at? I guess I understand why, but it sure seems like overkill given the vast number of chips available in the collectibles market.

Nice addition gmunny! Love that ASM dot mold(if that's the name). The TRKings never gets old.

It's been a very long time for me too. There's just too many samples out there so I'm now just focus on GPI samples; paulsons, BJ, & BG. If anyone want to trade for some of the non-GPI samples I have let me know.

Here are some of my Paulson additions, some I may have previously posted. I have more that I haven't scanned, like this year's G2E chip. Enjoy.

    Denominated sets...

I think the reason for the drilled chips is that the salesmen carried them on a chain or key chain type holder. Easier to keep them together without losing them.

As far as why the notched chips, my guess is that back in the 70-80's Paulson did not have as many different insert/edge spot and color combos as they do now, so I don't know if those samples had the same pattern as issued by a casino. Not entirely sure though.
