Hello all....I don't come around these parts to often. It tends to damage my wallet, as I am sure you can understand!

Anyways, I am looking for scans or pics (or links to pics) of 2009 $8 Year of the Ox/Bull chips.

Rose's post has me itchin to see what is out there so I can make an educated decision about which/how many of each chip I want to get!

    Thanks in advance!!!

{EDIT} Oh I should I add....I went to the CCG&TCC site and it seemed like they were getting hit with uber amounts of spam. Did anybody else see this?

Be careful, these things are very additive. I got sucked into the vortex last year and got a whole load of different ones.

Chinese New Year is not until Jan 26th so I would think you see more closer to that date. Here's 2 that I've seen and it looks like it might have been released already.

I totally understand about the addicition thing....but hopefully I will be able to avoid it because the OX is my birth year so that is the reason why I want these, but the other's aren't really interesting to me.

At least they aren't right now....after I get a few I might change my tune!!:happy:

I, on the other hand, will go broke collecting these.

If I'm still a chipper with money when the Year of the Tiger comes around again, I won't have money for long.

We collectors call this the Slippery Slope Factor. For you, it's the notion that 2009 is your one year of Ox chips. However, the Chinese Lunar New Year has a 12 year rotation. This means that in 2021 (if chips are still being made and used in casinos) there will be another round of Ox chips.

And the real slippery part of this is that back in 1997 (also Year of the Ox) there were several casinos that had Ox chips! :)

My two favorite year of the ox chips come from Hollywood Park and Great Canadian Casino.

    [IMG][IMG](missing the $8 chip)

    But two more for fun...

Cap, thought you might like an update from this year's crop. I just received the $8 Palms in the mail (all scans from New Release chips):

...and ordered these from Chuck Smorse:

(Palazzo only; since I don't have one of their chips and the Venetian is nearly a duplicate, this is one of those two-birds-with-one-stone dealies)

    (me likey! me likey!)

Plus a Wynn, to go along with the YotDog Wynn I already have. I'm waiting to hear back from Chuck about the YotO versions from Ballys, Flamingo, Harrahs, Imperial Palace, Paris, and Rio. I passed on the Four Queens and Orleans (they're $5s, and the FQ looked like a cow) as well as the Gold Coast $8.

(Just got an update from Chuck: "NO Harrah's Intertainment Casinos (RIO, Harrah's, Bally's Paris, RIO, Imperial Palace, as they do not sell, just give to VIPs" ... sigh)

They did this last year too and drove the prices way up for the collectors.

I believe Gold Coast also have YOTO NCV chips 25 & 100. Which they did last year too but I only saw the 25. I don't understand why they would make NCV chips when no one can it?

I know I found a link online to a set of all the Chinese Zodiac chips from one casino. I lost the link. Any collectors that might have a link?

That would depend on which casino you're referring to...

Yeah, that's the one that looks like a cow more than an ox to me. There's also a $5 from Orleans that I passed on, as well as an $8 from Gold Coast that looked really weird.

And don't forget the brass versions from Hollywood Park in California; those almost always go for a pretty chunk of change...
