NEW Pharaoh's Club Clay Poker Chips

I'd like to introduce you to the new line of true clay poker chips from TheChipRoom.com and ChipTalk.net. We have teamed together to bring to the you a new version of the famous Pharaoh's Club poker chips.

The new line continues to be produced as a true compression molded clay chip. Now the Pharaoh's Club will have a unique custom mold, larger inlays, and two new designs -- A 5¢ chip and a $5000 chip.

Below are the latest images of the new line of chips and instructions on purchasing them. Jim Shaffer will take over editing this post to keep the latest info readily available. Once again we all owe John Faulhaber (Johnny5) a big "thank you" for helping bring the original design to the New Pharaoh's Club clay chips. We decided to keep all the exact same colors and edge spot (insert) colors in order to match existing sets of Pharaoh's.

The ChipTalk membership has helped design a new insert progression scheme. We are pleased to have secured authorization to use some new unique spots from this manufacturer such as the "8V" configuration.

Subscribe to this thread to watch for news of the final versions and shipping information.

PRE-SALE Pricing
This pricing is available for ChipTalk members only for a very short time. The pre-sale will run until December 30th. At that point, the prices will go up to the anticipated retail price of $.43/chip. I'm sure we will offer a discount to ChipTalk members, but not near the $.39/chip price. The chips are expected to arrive at our shop on December 31st.

CHIP UPDATE 1-11
GOOD NEWS!! The chips are on their way. We are still trying to nail down when they will land and clear customs and a Bill of Lading for our customs broaker and to make sure what they shipped. They should be in our warehouse by Friday, barring any customs delays.

CHIP UPDATE 1-14
Just got a call from Delta Airlines. The chips are on the ground in Michigan!!! Still don't have the Bill of Lading, hopefully it is with the shipment.

CHIP UPDATE 1-15
Just got a call from the freight forwarder. The chips somehow cleared customs, without the Bill of Lading. It must be with the shipment. The chips are on a truck heading to The Chip Room!!!

After that was sorted out he responded promptly. So I would shoot him a PM via chiptalk and advise him you tried to contact him and give him your email details.

And Jim, if you're reading this you should probably update the info on your website. Just a shame to lose business on such a simple error which can easily be corrected.

I sent an email off to Jim on Wednesday and followed up with a PM yesterday. Still waiting for a reply. It's only been a couple days so i'm still keeping my Fingers crossed. Perhaps he's out of town on holiday?

Re: Introducing the NEW Pharaoh's Club Clay Poker Chips

Hello everyone!
I have seen chip talk a lot from browsing cards, chips and poker and i thought, you know what, this looks like a really good place to network with other poker players and get involved. So yes, i am new and today is officially my first day here!

I currently have a $50 14gm "clay" (or what they say is clay) poker chip set with a metal insert. When i first started looking for chips with the little knowledge i had i thought, wow 14 gm! But after playing with them vs the chips at my local casino, they are just not good enough. So i started exploring, and there are so many websites that have Paulson which are so expensive and way out of my budget. I found Pharoah's yesterday on Apache and that is an excellent price and great looking chips! I want the 1000 chips for 375. I am going to buy samples first. Is there anything i need to know about these chips? What about the care and what's the whole thing with oiling chips? I never heard of that. I read that some of these chips are bigger than others. Is that true and if so what chip racks do you recommend for storing in an arcrylic case?

From what everyone is saying about these chips they seem like they are really good. Do you guys think this is adefinetly a good investment or is there something better in that price range?

I'm glad i found this site. All comments are appreciated!

Brian

Re: Introducing the NEW Pharaoh's Club Clay Poker Chips

Email apache for the required chip racks, I am sure he will have them.

I ordered my Pharaoh's through Jim at the Chip Room, who is the main supplier for these anyway. He also has the required chip racks.

These chips are great, they are not Paulson's but they are as close as you can get in this price range. They are excellent chips and break in very nice. I came from what I thought to be 'very nice' 14g chips, but these are leaps and bounds above slugged chips.

Oiling is subjective. some oil just the sides with mineral oil, some (like me) oil the entire chip minus the label of course. These chips arrive chalky and dry, oiling brings out the boldness in color and soaks up all the chalk. If I had to do it again, I wouldnt have oiled the completely, only the sides. After I oiled these, they become very slippery and dont stack as well, but after breaking them in for a while, they start to regain their 'stack like bricks' nature. Try oiling a few if you want to see what happens, then decide for yourself.

Hello Everyone!

Re: Introducing the NEW Pharaoh's Club Clay Poker Chips

Hi Brian,

I just received my 1000 piece set of Pharoahs today and they look great!

I can't really answer your question on the 10K, 25K and 100K chips, I'll leave that to someone who knows what they're talking about, but are you looking for chips or plaques?

Regarding the "inlay material", surely these just have a sticker inlay not clay? Or am i miss reading your question?

So, I haven't really answered your questions, why did I even make this post?
I can chip in some info based on what i've just received. 2 things in particular:

Racks
Regarding racks, I purchased a 1000 piece acrylic carrier case directly from China (I live in Hong Kong) which came with 10 67.7mm racks included.
However, these racks won't fit 20 to a row (19 and a half is more like it) for any of the denominations i bought ($1, $5, $25, $100, $500).
To be honest, it's not even close to fitting. I recon you'll need around 70mm racks to fit these chips. I'm planning on sanding down the racks a bit to squeeze them in.

Chip Quality
As previously mentioned, I ordered myself a 1000 chip set. However, as i live in Hong Kong and shipping additional chips to replace defects is not really practical, I ordered 2 extra chips in each denomination as spares. The chips were generally of really good quality with very few defects. And i found that all 5 denominations i bought were of uniform thickness (stacking each denom 40 high they were all level). Also, there were no outright cracked chips, something i was worried about having shipped the chips half way around the world.
The minor issues included:
- 1 $100 chip where the P of the word Pharoahs on the inlay was smudged.
- 1 $25 had a tiny nick/chip on the rolling edge.
- Regarding the positioning of the sticker inlay, these were generally quite good with very few riding up onto the edge for the $1, $5, $100 and $500. We are talking of maybe a couple in each denomination. However, for some reason this was much more of a problem for the green $25 chips. Around 10 of the 225 $25 chips i bought had inlays riding up the edges, though nothing too extreme.

Overall I'm really happy with my new Pharoahs and i know you will be too if you buy a set of these (and don't forget the matching dealer buttons, they are excellent!).

I bought my chips through Jim here at chip talk. His service is great (he even gave me 6 extra free chips and got my order spot on), however you do need to be a bit patient as he was quite slow at replying emails (though that might just be because he was particularly busy).
