Rock The Vote

Ok ... I wouldn't normally do this but due to extenuating circumstances felt compelled to drop this thread and bring as much attention as possible a chip design competition that is going on.

SunFly's sponsoring a design contest for their 43mm ceramic chip. There are several designs that have been entered and all are fantastic. If this contest is conducted like their recent 39MM chip design contest, then after the contest is over, the winning design ... and perhaps even ALL the designs ... will be available for a group buy at a really good deal!

So why am I posting this thread? One of the designs was developed in another online chip community. Many of these members also had CT accounts here. When the voting started they all logged on and voted for the chip that they had collaborated on. This is not an ethical problem ... however, it causes a significant distortion in results as they would not have typically voted at all, had this particular design not been entered.

So ... to hopefully offset this particularly focused voting block, I would urge EVERYONE to check out the designs and vote for the one you like the best. I am not asking for votes for my design necessarily (I'm not much of a self-promoter), but to cast a vote for the design you would spend your money on, if you had to.

I am hoping to draw enough of our more active members to vote, in an effort to help offset this unusual group vote.

I DO want to point out that I don't believe anything unethical or underhanded is going on, and I am not accusing anyone of anything like that ... just an unusual situation.

CLICK HERE TO CAST YOUR VOTE

Thanks as always,
Gary

nice first post.

voting for oneself is not self-promotion. it's voting in one's own self-interest.

I didn't ... I voted for the design which I liked the best. My criteria is this ...

Which design would I be MOST willing to spend my $$ on? My answer, in this case, was my own "Regalia" design.

To be perfectly honest, I would not have submitted a design that wouldn't have been my favorite. What would be the point? I would expect most other designers to feel the same way.

Besides ... to simply vote for yourself is not "promotion"; confidence perhaps. To tell people to "come over here and vote for MY design" ... that is self-promotion. I am guilty, at WORST, of promoting this contest and not any ONE specific participant (which is why, I suspect, that it got moved to this forum from the General forum where its started).

As a very active and relatively long-standing member of CT I believe that I am entitled to have MY voice heard and my vote counted ... Just as I recognize and respect the right of those members who are not EQUALLY active here, to also have an EQUAL voice and vote in these competitions and contests.

I see that after 6 months this is your first post here. Also that you appear to have voted for your friend (if I am incorrect please accept my deepest apologies) ... So I ask you ... would you spend YOUR hard-earned money on a set of the chips you voted for? If your answer is "NO" then the shame is yours ... if the answer is "YES" then I deserve no more shame than you. Since, should I not win this competition, I WILL spend my hard-earned money to purchase a set of the Regalia chips. How about you ... if the chips you voted for lose will you buy them anyway?

I am sorry, but respectfully: your comment is unfair makes no sense at all.

What if I don't like any of the designs?

Just kidding - I'm not in the market for these chips, so I will abstain, but I like what you're doing with this thread, and if I was going to vote, it would not be for the design that is currently in the lead.

I shouldn't even respond to a first post like this, but voting for one's own design is really the only option if you have one vote.

Example: So I enter an architecctural design competion for a building or monument like the Vietnam Memorial, should I therefore not vote for myself when I poured my heart into that design?

I already voted and I hope a lot of other long time chiptalkers participate.

If you don't like any of them then by all means don't vote.

But even if you're not in the market, you have an opinion, and just like anyone else here, whether purchasing a set or not ... you are welcome to express it!

ROCK THAT VOTE! LOL ... ( do they even do that "rock the vote" thing on MTv anymore? Am I dating myself? )
