Sun-Fly's 43mm Design Competition

Hi everyone,

this next competition will be on our new 43mm ceramic chips. We would like to have designs made that are exclusive for 43mm chips and hope that all the designs would take full advantage of the extra space available on the faces.

Prize
We will be giving away 300 x 43mm ceramic chips to the winning design.

Designs
As these have more space on the faces of the chip we believe it is possible to have more intricate detail and would like all the designs to take advantage of the extra space available.

43mm chips have the feeling of being more powerful/superior/regal than a smaller chip. Bearing this in mind we would like to get a design based on that kind of feeling.

We would like original and creative artwork.

Dimensions
43mm ceramic poker chip: 43mm dia. rolling edge – 135mm X 3.5 mm

Denominations

We want 6 denominations designed. The values on the chips would be for high value games. The deigner can choose which values they prefer.

Artwork Format
We prefer Photoshop or Adobe Illustrator files. JPG is usable. Artwork with a high resolution, no less than 300dpi and saved in CMYK format.

Prototypes
EVERY designer who submits a design can have FREE prototypes made of their chips and we will have these posted to you also for FREE at the end of the competion regardless of whether or not you have the winning design.
Although you may submit multiple designs here on the thread we will only allow each designer to to have only 1 of their designs made up as prototypes so make sure the design you send us is your final or near final design. We will post the image of the prototype on this thread and directly to you. This should give you as the designer the perfect opportunity to check out exactly what your chips will look like and to see if there are any changes that need to be made.

Once you have seen your prototype chips from the images you WILL be allowed to modify your designs again if you have any improvements to be made.

Final designs that you wish to be made into prototypes should be sent to sun.fly.martin@gmail.com so make sure these are really what you feel are the final design.
When emailing please add your ChipTalk.net username, mailing address and contact number as well as your designs.

Deadline
The deadline for final posts will be May 12th. Any posts after this date will not be put into a poll. As soon as the designer is happy with this design then prototypes can be made, they don’t need to wait.

I hope this is clear for everyone who is interested, if there are any questions you have then let me know. I will get back to you as soon as I possibly can.

Thanks all

Martin

Re: Sun-Fly's 43mm Design Competition

I'll kick things off...
Please comment on or critique my design. Like it? Hate it? Let me know.
(I will be making the higher denoms, but wanted to get feedback on this idea before making the rest of the chips.)

Re: Sun-Fly's 43mm Design Competition

tim - nice design. I like the color gradient on the rim of the chip on the far left.

I find the silver denominations really hard to read.

Here's an update on the evolution of the design I'm playing with here...

I'm assuming we can have different imprints on each side? My idea was to expand the 43mm chip and actually come up with a design that uses 86mm by using both sides of the chip. Comments appreciated.

Tim:
It's a pretty cool design. Personally, I'm not a huge fan of the wave effect on the text. I think I like the 50k chip in the center -- it's a good and clean design.

Speck:
I'm not really sure what all those lines are supposed to be. Also, I wouldn't cover up the denominations with your design.

Speck - I really like your idea of an 86mm canvas. Your design has a simple elegence to it that is very apealing. I would partially agree with jmc on the denom, I would try 'moving it to the front' or mabey just increasing the size so that it isn't lost in the pattern.

Please show us more...
Shane

Great idea! I can't wait to see how it goes. Very interesting possibilities with this thought process.
