I just now understood that you said. The venetian is the name of the resort/hotel/casino in las vegas but at the beginning of my design I don't think about it (because I didn't know it). And I choose this because it's short and fit well with the mystery of a venetian mask.

Does somebody have an idea by what to replace the name?

Re: Sun-Fly's 43mm Design Competition

To ckoi7arnak:

Maybe it doesn't have to be country/region specific. Maybe something like "The Artisan" or "Masquerade Room" --where you wouldn't have to change the central graphic. Or, mabe change the central graphic and keep the awesome background. That might open up a lot more thematic/naming options.

To Feen666:

I know they're just asking for 6 denoms for the 43mm, but that design is nice enough for a full set of 39mms, dealer button, tournament set, the back of a Kem setup, etc. And I would love to see the plaque with a marquis diamond cut--I bet it looks great.

One comment: the triangle leading up to the "C" in "Casino" seems a little dark, especially skimming the '"C" like it does. Maybe keep the lower-left corner the same, but use a gradient to go lighter towards the upper-right-hand corner. I think it might look a little better for "C" since none of the other titling is contrasted with that dark of a triangle. I hope that made sense, I'm not describing it very well.

Re: Sun-Fly's 43mm Design Competition

Thanks to Sun-Fly for the cool contest.
This is my first attempt at designing something in Illustrator.
The Chinese writing is from an on-line translator, so I apologize for any weirdness.
The text on the face of the chip is supposed to say good luck and the text on the
rolling edge is supposed to be the denom. I will have 3 more denoms coming soon probably a 500, a 25,000, and a 100,000.
Of course all feedback is welcome and encouraged.

Re: Sun-Fly's 43mm Design Competition

ckoi -- how did you decide where to place the $? It is in the tens place sometimes, and in the ones place other times.

(Why not omit it... especially for a chip with a European name... do they really use dollars in Italy?)

Re: Sun-Fly's 43mm Design Competition

2 things:

1. I definitely like the Italian. Much more sophisticated...

2. The dollar signs are in different places on the different chips. Is there a reason for that? Maybe think about dropping the dollar sign, or use a Euro sign if this is an "Italian" chip.

Just my 2 fractional euros...

Edit: Speck, great minds think alike...

Yes you're right, in europe we don't use dollar sign but the italian words just appear... It's also true for the comma separating the thousands.
For the place, i decided to put it in different position, depending of the length of the denom but it seems that 50% of people doesn't like. If the italian words are chosen (by people who say what they prefers), then I'll remove (or change) the dollar sign, and I'll remove the comma too.
You think that the sign must be placed in a more conventional place? You do not like like that ?

Re: Sun-Fly's 43mm Design Competition

I don't think you need to put the dollar sign in a conventional place, but I think it should be an common place. Always put it in the first zero, or middle digit, or last zero. Pick something and stick to it, otherwise it looks like you made a mistake. Again, if you go with the Italian, I would change it to the Euro, or if this is an old school place, use Lira.
