Chips: 231 | | | Re: Sun-Fly's 43mm Design Competition A couple of questions for Martin:
1. How many chips are going to be made up of the prototypes? How many of each denom?
2. Have you ever considered doing a plaques design competition? THAT would be really cool. Think of all the space for awesome detail and design! WOW!
Ok... I'm done. |

Just not sure which denom to axe. (10K is on the bubble)
Some help would be greatly appreciated
ckoi7arnak,
I like the updates and the overall design kicks butt. Just a lil bit concerned that some colors may be too similiar.

Chips: 5,460 | | | Re: Sun-Fly's 43mm Design Competition I really like this white one TurnerProfit!! My opinion would be to trade out one of the darker chips in your set (500, 1000, 100000). As the chips tend to print darker than they appear on paper I would be concerned that these 3 may get confusing in a pot together. This gorgeous white would definitely break that up a bit.
Just my 2c ... They are looking great so far!!

Personally - I am sticking with option #1

Just my 2c ... They are looking great so far!! | Thanx Gary! I think I will heed your advice. Buh-Bye Dk Red 100K hello white 100K.
I'll post the results soon.
Just curious, I have been reading alot about dark printing in this thread. Is it because the ceramic material tends to absorb a bunch of ink?
Now that I think about it, I really don't know much about the whole chip making process (clay molds, ceramics, Plastics). I'd love to know more.
Someone should do a TV show about it.
Anyway, I have a feeling one of my adjustments will be lightening the remaining dark colors.

The "Why's" would have to be answered by a manufacturer. Each has their own process for actually printing them so I would imagine that the answers may vary from one to another. I just know that it does. You can see how much Chuck adjusted his "Dropa Discs" from the 39mm Chip Competition. Several of the "Spaydz" chips required some fairly serious tweeking for 'darkness' issues as well. Nearly lost the blue inlay in the black chip completely, it printed so dark.
I am just thankful that we had the opportunity to modify them after receiving the prototypes in person!! Hopefully we will have that opportunity in this contest as well!

Chips: 47 | | | Re: Sun-Fly's 43mm Design Competition @Turner Profit : I prefer this white 10K. But do you replace the 10K or the 100K ?
Otherwise i think it's difficult to see well the value on the edge of the 25K and 100K.
Which color do you think that it's too similar? (I changed the pink for one more vibrant) |

Chips: 88 | | | Re: Sun-Fly's 43mm Design Competition Wow! Wow! Wow!!! I thought this was going to be a tough competition. Now I know it is... Great job all!!! Speck: Are you doing edgespots or just solid edges? ckoi: I love your latest design, but after reading Gary's posts I think the 100 may be a too dark, maybe a dark grey instead of bLack? feen: very nice design, but if you need to cut a chip... $25 just doesn't say "Diamonds" to me. iznogood: Is there more coming? Handsom: I like the tux more than the cards... but if you could tighten up the artwork (I know there isn't much time) I think the card theme could really be great. Gary: Judging by what you said about dark colors, are your Blue and Black very close in color or is it my monitor? I really liked the Green $2500, even if you change the design maybe consider keeping that color.. Turner: I like your design very much... whatever changes you decide upon, please keep the 'chocolate' chip... I hope I didn't miss anyone. This will be great if they are all available as samples like the 39mm contest... What am I saying, I am still trying to hide the receipts from those samples... Thank you much, Shane |

You absolutely read my mind!!! That was EXACTLY my concern as well. I having been looking at these all day, dying to get home and fix the blue!! And the green will come back as the 25K chip. I just wish that I could get a green with more 'punch'. CMYK tends to dull the tones ... My final color/value assignments will look like ...
1,000 - yellow
5,000 - red
25,000 - green
100,000 - black
250,000 - blue (lighter blue )
Non-Denom - White
Oh ... it may be a day late and a dollar short ... but these will not require aligned edgespots!
