MaCafee says ChipTalk is a "Malicious site" - Why?
FYI This is Greg posting with Buddy's computer because I am at his house and I just saw this MaCAfee warning on his computer.
On every new browser load of ChipTalk, he gets a popup from Macafee Total Protection. I mentions two reasons: Malicious Site" and "Bulletin Boards/ Forums"
Here is the page that it links to for more information. I didnt give enough details to decipher why it's angry at ChipTalk.
chiptalk.net | McAfee SiteAdvisor Software ? Website Safety Ratings and Secure Search
Can you help tell us why Macafee doesn't like us, and what we need to do to fix this?

Re: MaCafee says ChipTalk is a "Malicious site" - Why?
From the site:
- Why Is a Site Rated Red? Sites are rated red when, in our judgment, the site poses especially hazardous risks to a user's computer security, there are an exceptional number of annoying behaviors, or there is exceptional information that we believe our users would want to be aware of before or during a visit to that site. Behaviors that typically lead to red site ratings are hosting drive-by exploit code, impersonating a legitimate business (phishing), making unrequested or unexpected system changes, or hosting malware for download at the time of our visit. Sites can also be rated red when we receive unexpected e-mail to the unique e-mail address we submitted to that site, and the e-mails we receive exhibit characteristics consistent with spam e-mail, such as unusual volume or a high "spamminess" score as determined by an automated scanning program. Additionally, we may rate a site red for certain types of linking behavior with other red sites, or when we find a site that engages in activities we believe could be misleading.
Site ratings are calculated automatically based on McAfee's opinion of the risks associated with the results of the tests performed on a site. The rating is not intended to measure the site owner's intent or knowledge. For example, a site that posts the e-mail addresses of its users in plain text, even though unintentionally and without any spam e-mail being received, can earn a red rating because of the increased risk this behavior poses to users to receive spam. Similarly, a site with numerous links to sites with red site ratings, even though the site owner may be unaware of the risk profile of those linked sites, can earn a red rating because of the increased risk to users to visit potentially dangerous sites or to download dangerous programs.
I'm still researching. I'll post more results as I find them.

Who knows what sort of algorithym they use to make that determination. Searching for CT on their Site Advisor doesn't reveal any negative info, and even the three downloads they say they pulled are flagged as "good".
But Greg, I think this is what you need.
How do you submit a site rating dispute? To begin, please submit your rating dispute via email at support@siteadvisor.com or online.
SiteAdvisor - User Feedback
During the evaluation of this dispute, McAfee communicates with site owners via e-mail.

Chiptalk has been malicious to my wallet. I keep thinking I am set and then I see another set of chips that I must have.

Re: MaCafee says ChipTalk is a "Malicious site" - Why?
I know that at work I've tried to come here and says it's blocked. I inquired, and the IT guy had told me it was poker/gambling related. Despite my protesting as to what Chiptalk is, he stated it's beyond the threshold of common decency and hard right(eous?) morality. Ok kidding on the last part, but he did say it was still too close to gambling and wouldn't pass the litmus test. I'm confident not many folks where I work aren't even remotely aware of CT so why it would be flagged would have to be because of some script or such that counts key words/content and flags accordingly. Only guessing, no internetz eggspert here...
Does anyone get the same message going to sites similar to CT or even adult oriented sites?

It probably has something to do with the tremendous amounts of PRON on the site. Officially listed as a Pron site. I know when I've had a long day I long for some fresh Pron!

Macaffee/Norton are horrible. ESET FTW.
My proxy server at work filters all of the "innapropriate" sites out including CT. Unfortunately they also screen sites I actually use for software development, which is what my company hired me to do. That's mostly because the domain names have snappy nerd names that only someone like myself would appreciate:
yourcodesucks.org and the like.
