Diamond Square mold update
I have installed the Diamond Square mold and here are the test results.
1) This mold can be hot stamped not problem.
2) This mold has a good deep recess, no spinners.
3) This mold has a small center recess and was made for 7/8" printed centers.
4) This mold makes a smaller diameter chip than the HH or A-mold (about .015 smaller).
5) Because of the age of this mold, the chip thickness will be less accurate than newer molds. More like the smooth no mold, but still within allowable limits. You may see a small difference in height of stacks.
It's been about 20 years since we made chips on this mold. Now that it's been tested, I'm sure the chips will be great.

Re: Diamond Square mold update
Item number 2 makes me the happiest!!
Not that an ASM chip is NOT a lifetime investment, but having a spinner-free stack makes it that much better!
Just for clarity, difference in heights of stacks based on color or within a color? The way I see it, if it is withing a color, there's a reason to mix up the stacks. If it varies by color, that's a small issue as well.
Thanks for posting the test update. I'll second Mango's request about pics of the test chips. Maybe with an inlay (I know SteveA has concerns, though I don't, but it would be nice to see...).

One HAS to ask how big ASMs secret vault is and what other gems it possesses...only time will tell...
or Jim if he so chooses

Re: Diamond Square mold update
excellent news Jim. Just curious, when you reveal a golden option like this is it advertised on the site or other places or is it a ChipTalk only opportunity?

I'm pretty certain this one was a ChipTalk exclusive!

Re: Diamond Square mold update
JimB - what kind of stack variation are we talking about? Can you show us a pic of worst case scenario with stacks of 20? If the stacks will vary considerably, I might switch up my order and go back to HHR.
Also - any ETA on when you'll be starting to process the MD-50 orders?
Thanks for making this mold available!!!
