Salesman's sample card for sale

As we moved our factory to a new location, I came across a lot of interesting things that I'll be offering for sale to CT members. Here is a small piece of chip making history. This is a salesman's sample card used between 1912 and 1935. In 1936 the Portland Billiard Ball Corp. changed it's name to The Burt Company. The Burt Company was re-named ASM in 1988.

Breaknot was a trade name used by Portland Billiard Ball for a compression mold plastic (plascon) chip. This card measures about 9 1/2" x 4". The price written on the reverse $15 per 1000. How time have changed.

Have only one $75.00.
Thanks
jimb

Times have changed indeed. I think this represents more than a week's pay in the time period - for plastic chips! Nowadays, we can buy a thousand plastic chips for an hour's pay, and a week's wages can get us custom clays (as long as we're not the poor souls making the plastic chips).

Re: Salesman's sample card for sale

That's .015 each chip in 1912 $'s

In today's $'s adjusted for inflation it would be .38 each chip

No much of a deal for plastic chips
