I have this same question, as I've never ordered custom chips before period. But I realized that i might as well take these few extra days to work on the inlay so i don't give the artwork department at ASM too much trouble.

How many chips can ASM fit into a USPS flat rate box?

They use UPS with signature required.

USPS box will easily fit 900.

Re: Special Discount in July

I have read that users are discouraged from picking the DG colors for chips (and instead use them for edge spots). However, edge spots are not allowed for the July special and even more important, the DG colors are clearly waaaay better than most of their basic counterparts.
So, how dangerous/how much of a problem have people had in the past with DG colored chips?
I really want to order the more vibrant colors, but I hate to ignore a warning from ASM?

Re: Special Discount in July

umm from what i read, someone correct me if i'm wrong seeing as i've never handled ASMs before, but I believe the DG colors are not wieghted w/ bronze flakes. So they are lighter and i think that would cause them to be a bit more brittle.

Re: Special Discount in July

don't be deterred from getting solid dg chips. i've got solid dg pink quarters and solid dg green fifty-centers in my cash set and they're doing just fine. yes they are a bit lighter, but that don't make me no never mind.

That is what I have read also. But how much "bit more brittle" are they? And does it really matter in real life? Iron is a bit more brittle than diamonds, but if you have an inch thick slab of either, there is probably no problem dropping them from 4 feet. Not that I am planning to purposely drop all my chips from 4 feet, but I am just wondering if anybody has any real life experience with DG chips and what problems have been encountered?

Re: Special Discount in July

I use DG colors as the base color for some of my chips, and there is no noticable difference in the "chip" or damage factor compared to regular base colors. Perhaps DG colors are technically more brittle than regular colors, but in my experience there is no functional difference. (I don't even notice the weight issue, to be honest)
