Sorry if I seem bitter, but...well, I am a bit. I'd planned on spending ~$500 and now it will cost $635. A 25% jump seems like a lot to me.

I know I'm just one of those little fish and not gonna break anyone's bank with a 1300 chip purchase, but I feel very...bait-and-switched.

On top of which I've been given a one week deadline to make my decision.
Sorry your feeling frustrated but costs went up.

Let me jump in here and try and explain a few things--
1- sometimes our anticipated landed cost of an item and our actual costs are different- primarily to petroleum prices being directly linked to vinyl and chip costs as theyre both made from petroleum prices.
Add to that: when customs decides to inspect/xray a container- the terminal where cargo is stored is a private entity- when customs decides to inspect/xrqay a container we have an addit cost from customs AND since it can be 7-10 days till they do this- the private cargo holding area charges us since we onyl get x amount of free days to clear our merchandize from the cargo hold.

Basically, acme storage holds are chips for 3 days so we can clear customs. ANY delays and we get charges almost 200 a day addit storage--- doesnt matter whose fault it is-- if customs takes their sweet ass time to clear/inspect our chips and it takes 14 days-- we got a 2800 storage bill.
Thanks to 911 theyre inspecting 1/3 of all china containers-- and importers foot the bill. Its SO unfair but theres nothing we can do- they got us- and got us good.
Thats why from now on were not quoting pricing until goods are in our warehouse.
Customs sucks
Joe
