2002 WSOP......Every dork has his day!

I had my Tivo record all wsop events and I just got done watching the 2002 wsop event. And for all you Revenge of the Nerds fans out there, Robert Varkonyi lived a dream for you all.
Some of the worst poker play I have ever seen in my entire life. Although I may start playing Q 10 more often. For those of you who want to see Phil Hellmuth shave his head after a bad beat....yes I said shave his head. Making a not so good lookin guy even more not so good looking.( I thought I saw the mole actually move. I think it gets bigger after every bad beat) This is a must SEE TV. Anyway like to hear some more comments from the rest of you who have seen it.

P.S. Thank god a cool guy like Moneymaker won in 2003, otherwise no poker boom.

raymer, moneymaker, varkonyi, the triumverate of cool.

dunno, since when are poker players cool anyhow? who won before these three? carlos mortenson, chris ferguson before them, right?

is daniel negreanu cool? nope. josh arieh? ted lawson? sklansky? doyle?

there are some cool pros; they're pretty much in the minority, though.

Agreed. "Cool" isn't part of the equation; "cool" doesn't get you +EV. The more people think I'm a doofus who gets lucky, the more money I swipe from their stacks. It's all good.

Varkonyi's win in 2002 was the poker equivalent of a Star Wars fanboy being tabbed by Lucas to direct "Revenge of the Sith", and I personally think it started the current momentum poker enjoys. Moneymaker's win in 2003 simply poured a big whallopin' can of whoop-ass gas on the small flame of Varkonyi's win.

[hijack] One thing amazed me about watching this -- how bad was the ESPN telecast? It looked and sounded like a cable-access show. Calling Wayne and Garth!!! [/hijack]
