The Doyle Brunson Movie

I for one found that the small biography in Doyle Brunson's Super System is a very interesting read indeed. He has definately lived a great life. From his basketball playing days, his life changing injury, his wild west poker playing days, his fight with cancer, the death of his daughter and his deep depression, quitting poker, re-entering the poker scene, his near death home invasion robbery scare, to his great fame of today.

I really enjoyed both 'Rounders' and 'The Cincinnatti Kid', but these movies are both based on fictional characters. I think that a well made movie on the life of Texas Dolly himself would probably be one of the all time best 'Gambling/Poker Movies' ever made with the right cast and director behind it.

What say you?
Would you like to see a well made movie about this living legend of poker?
If so, what would be a good title for this film?
Who would be the best actor to play Mr. Brunson?

Re: The Doyle Brunson Movie

I thought Stu's life was more movie material...until they made the movie. Very meh' in production and directing.

I think a movie based on the road gamblers would be good. A Doyle movie will likely happen but not while Doyle is alive.

Yeah, I think it could make a good movie (for poker lovers).
I'm gonna have to think about the name of the movie, for the actor ?

I agree Stuey' film was nothing compared to the book imo

I was also disappointed in the Stuey Ungar movie. It had so much potential, but in the end, it was poorly filmed and poorly directed i.m.o.

Definitely has to be Fred Thompson. The Republican politician may enjoy playing the part of the life-long Republican. To my ears, both have a similar speaking pattern, as well.

GREAT CHOICE! I never would have thought of Fred Thompson.

Good Job.

How many movies are made about famous people while they're alive? I can't think of one off the top of my head.
