I was just watching the final table of the 1997 WSOP (mainly to see Stu Ungar in action) and was wondering what type of poker chips they used back in those days? I've never played at a decent casino before, and I like the look and sound that those chips seemed to make.

Can someone help me, I'm a relative nooooooob.

The chips that were at play during that year were bud jones. Same chips that were played the next year when Scotty Ngyuen won.

And from what I've read....... BJ are impossible to get.

What's the closest to BJ available to purchase??

IMO the closest you'll get to the sound of BJs are RT plastics. but the edgespots are all the same and kinda overpriced for a plastic chip
