Directed by Guy Ritchie, it will finally make its way to US shores on March 18th. Revolver was a 2006 film that centered around a couple of poker games. Prior to making the unsuccessful Swept Away with some person named Madonna, Ritchie brought us Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, in addition to a picture called Snatch.
I just went to wikipedia to read about it. Seems interesting. This part here: "The film itself is laced with references to Kabbalic ideas, symbols and numerological references." bothers me, but probably not enough to make me not watch it.
They say that those references are what prevented it from getting distribution here for so long. I personally don't care, I couldn't imagine those religious references bothering me anymore than all the ones that already do from other religions.
On a good note, it received a 3.7 on Netflix, with 5 being perfect. That rating is based on reviewers who have watched and reviewed similarly to my account. Anything in the 3.5 - 4 range is generally watchable.
I watched the trailer a while back and have to say that the cinematography looks gorgeous but the movie itself looks like a bit of a stinker. Looks like one of those movies with lots of big names that just doesn't deliver in the end. Don't get me wrong, I'm a big Guy Ritchie fan (LS2SB and Snatch are two of my favorite movies), so I hope I'm wrong. I'll definitely see it, but have a feeling I'll be disappointed.
