new GSN show 'Ace in the House'

Anybody see last night's pilot with Matusow dropping in on a spiffed up home poker game? Cory Zeidman, seen on HSP, hosted and provided commentary.

My understanding is that it was a pilot for a new series, but other reports indicate that it was a special. I was pretty iffy about it and thought that the producers tried a bit too hard to peg the home players as different personality types in an effort to make things more watchable. I would have preferred less editing and more poker play in order to make up my own mind about them. Matusow seemed pretty buttoned-down and on good behavior although he did a bit of mild berating when another player caught a lucky river card to beat him in a big pot.

Thoughts? Discuss please.

I only kept thinking that the blonde girl is so darn pretty it made me weep. Other than that, not really exciting poker-wise. I heard people suggest it was rigged, which may or may not be true. It did seem like one episode of more to come, but I guess GSN wants to see the reactions first. The show doesn't even have a site at gsn.com yet.

I caught the last 10 min while flipping from the MNF game and honestly I thought it was terrible...

I saw it last night after HSP was on.

Here is my summary:
Mike the Mouth and Cory The Dooooshbag Zeidman (sp) go play cards at some cats home game.

Total home game drama, sub 1 star acting jobs on the all ins, and Mike the Mouth running his soup cooler, of course......

Then there is Cory Zeidman who I think is a complete tool.

Other than the two broads on the show which are pretty hot.
I want to punch the TV.

Watch the show again, or go sit through "Lucky You" again? Tough choice.

I was hoping for a third HSP episode when this show came on...I gave it a shot and watched the first 10 minutes but was not enjoying the chatter or the poker so I turned it off.

According to one of the Poker on TV websites, this was a pilot that no network picked up. Meaning you won't be seeing any more edpisodes.

I wonder if this could be the show that someone posted about here about a year or so ago. Some producer was looking for people with slick poker rooms/home games to come visit and film for a show. Anyone else remember this?

I don't recall that past post. On this show though, the producers went in to the residence in advance and really decked the game room out nicely.

I tried watching it - the premise seemed good and the thought of Mike the mouth at someones home game cracked me up. I switched off it 15 minutes in because I couldn't bare to watch it anymore. That and the Pats were getting schooled (for the moment) by the Ravens which was much more interesting

Good concept though. Was that home game in Los Angeles by any chance?
