EPT London: Cards in the air
I went down to the casino around 7PM, camera ready and they took it from me at the door!
The chips in play for this event are CHIPCO and they are so worn out that the Victoria and EPT should be embarrassed. The black 100's are nearly grayish white due to wear. There is a green 25, black 100, red 500, blue 1000 chip in play. They have 3 edge spots pie shape on each chip. Every chip is of the exact same edge spot design. Ugliest chips around.
177 players on day 1A and today they expect the big guns to show up in force. Hearly rumors of Ivey, Brunson and many other of the international stars will be here for day 1B.
Last night, I was able to stand by the rope near one of the tables close to the circulation zone. Moneymaker at that table and he was getting completly run over by everyone at the table who kept making plays on him or coming over the top. Every hand he was in was like this. You could see the disgust on his face. Helmuth would have gone into a tirade for sure.
Must have been 40-50 hands before he won a pot. I heard him say that when he finally won a hand and said 5 times around the table so far and first hand he took down.
Then after break, Devilfish Ulliot joined the same table as Moneymaker. That got interesting. Only a few times during the next hour did they go head to head in a hand.
A young kid in the 9th seat (10 per table) always raised on the button or re re raised from his blinds. This kid was not going to lose his blind or position. Finally, Devilfish raises from seat 7, this kid goes over the top by 3x bet, Devilfish goes all in and puts the punk to the test and just stared at him over the top of his glasses. Kid folds.
Best bluff of the night. Moneymaker in seat 3 raises pre flop to around $3000. Kid in seat 8 re raises ALL IN and has Moneymaker covered. Money goes into tank now as well. He finally folds and the kid flips over

! Chris mucked A9!
Best hand of the night was Moneymaker just before I had to leave around 11 PM. Blinds are 200/400. Moneymaker raises to $3,000 one caller from 3 seats behind him. Flop Qxx, Money bets around $5000, guy calls. Turn nothing, moneymaker goes all in for his last $7,000 the other guy goes into the tank. The guy finally calls off all but $1500 of his stack with a Q high board showing and moneymaker flips up the KK. The guy who called should have stayed awhile longer in the tank because he flips of TT with only the river to come.
River nothing, Moneymaker is back in the tournament finally with a nice stack now of around $16,000.
What is really most interesting about watching these live tournaments from the rail is watching betting patterns based upon position! Tons of folds on and on for hours one end. No wonder ESPN has to edit footage for TV....Poker would be quite boring if you had to sit there for hours just watching folds, bets, raises, and few calls or confrontations.
Just checked the link above to the EPT and Moneymaker must have hit some huge hands because I left when he had just regained some chips and now he is in 3rd place with around $80,000 in chips.
