Chips: 1,137 | | | 2007 WSOP Europe £10,000 in London week of Sept 10-16 Went to the Casino at the Empire here in London last night to see day 3 or 4 of the £10,000 ($20,000+)buy in WSOP Europe event. First place guaranteed of £1 million ($2.05 million dollars).
Just about every big name in the world of poker is here for this one, but I missed the first two days due to work.
Last night, saw Johnny Chan and Daniel Negraneau at the feature TV table. I was standing no more than 5 feet behind them and could barely see or hear what was going on at the table. In fact, it was all quite boring watching fold after fold after fold. In fact, Daniel is the only one who was carrying on conversations trying to be funny and everyone else just sat there looking at their chips and not saying a word. Seemed like a morgue! He even got up and talked to a couple next to me just for fun while he was out of a hand.
Another table downstairs in the poker room had Jimmy Fricke and Patrick Antonius. Again, there were only two tables play in this room and it looked more like a small stakes ring game than a tournament with a £1,000,000 payout for first!
Currently the field is down to 70 players with Gus Hansen sitting in first place at the moment. Annie Duke is up there too but I didn't see her either last night. This tournament looks like it's spread out in different rooms in this casino because it's not large enough to have all the tables in one area it seems.
I also kept telling magazine photographers to take pictures of the chips but none of them seemed to care about this little bit of advice! The World Series Of Poker presented by Milwaukee's Best Light

That said, this tournament is being run by a bunch of idiots. For a $2 million dollar first place, to be holed up in some tiny little room in the basement of this casino is ludicrous. There was the TV table upstairs in some room where you could only see from one side, then the other 4 tables were in the basement poker room and you could only get close to one table nearest the door.
Of course, this set up is not at all fan friendly. You cannot see anything for the most part.
The best view I had last night of one table was Annie Dukes tattoo above her rear because she was sitting at the end of the table near where I stood. Eric Lindgren was at her table as well.
Saw Jamie Gold at the far table along with Jen Harman at the other far table. Way off in one corner was Johnny Chan.
The TV table had Hoyt who got knocked out on the first hand that I saw when arriving.
Gus Hansen, Daniel Negraneau, and Patrick Antonius were also at that table. DN got knocked out by some guy who called Daniels all in raise on two occassions with draws both time and each time he hit his out on the river. The final one was Daniels AQ up against this other guy who called DN's all in with KQ and hit the K on the river.
I did see two pretty amazing plays last night in addition to the two that knocked DN out. With 44 players left, top 37 paying out a minimum of $55,000, one guy pushes all in with A8 unsuited and the guy with pocket QQ calls. My favorite hand of course. Flop comes something like 2, 4, 5....turn a 6 and the river 3 giving bonehead with A8 the straight.
The other was some guy in early position pushing with 33 getting called by KK on the button. Of course 33 got knocked out and didn't suck out like so many other all in's I saw last night.
OK, enough for now....going back to see a bit more even though I can't see much of anything. |

This guy Tabatabai is a maniac. I watched him play last night against Gus Hansen and he was just taking Gus apart. At one time, re raising into a huge looking board and getting Gus to fold both times...the last one he showed the 7-2!
