Watching the Main Event

I finally decided that I don't want to go through the hassle of avoiding spoilers. I'm just going to go to cardplayer.com and read the blog. It's just too much of a hassle not trying to be spoiled. Heck it's a free live coverage!

EDIT: For the past 4 years, I've been spoiled on Moneymaker, Raymer, and Hachem. And I was dissapointed when I seen Jamie Gold win when I wasn't spoiled.

Re: Watching the Main Event

I'll probably watch it whenever they get around to airing it , but I have to admit to being sick to the eyeteeth of televised poker. With the exception of HSP, I can barely stand to watch anymore.

Re: Watching the Main Event

Is that internet PPV or will it air on cable?

I know last year...a few folks (me included) happened to get onto the internet PPV for free (before they fixed the glitch..."we fixed the glitch" so it should work itself out) I stayed on that site all night...had to stop at about 1 am....

I find it hard to watch any of the WPT anymore... final table with huge blinds seems to take away the poker element. HSP is by far the best poker on TV.

Re: Watching the Main Event

Yeah, I'll read all about it, know the winner, then watch it on ESPN. And maybe even watch it whenever it re-runs for the next 10 years.

I'll pretty much watch any WSOP/WPT if I have down time. EXCEPT -- this past weekend they had the final hour of the 2006 final table. I tuned in and heard that it would have the exclusive commentary by Jamie Gold, so I immediately turned it off. As if!

I still crave poker, so at this time I have no problem watching it.

I will agree that the WPT is similar to the Home Run Derby that was aired last night. It's all or nothing. I wish the WPT would air for a minimal of 6 hours per show. That will never happen because of a number of factors, cost, time constraints ect. To me it would make for a better show instead of the All In fest that we're accustomed to watching now.

PAD isn't to bad, though some of the players treat it like a freeroll (which it might be for some of them). I like how they air most of the hands (if not all) but they need to get rid of the cash and add and then color up the chips.

PPT is one of my favorites and I hope they continue ith this format every year. I enjoyed watching it until they reached the final table. Then they cram 6-8 hours into that to hour slot and it's back to the same WPT format.

HSN: I've only watched it on youtube and what I've seen I enjoyed every minute of it. It's right up their with the PPT and later this year when I switch cable services, I'll be TIVO(ing) that too.

As for the MAIN event, I'll have to wait until ESPN airs it.

Re: Watching the Main Event

I love the presentation of the WSOP, I just hope they dont screw around with it too much this year, because its been spot on the last couple of years.

HSP is hands down my favourite, but WSOP probably comes a close second. PAD is fun to watch too because of the table talk.

I'm not concerned about spoilers when it comes to poker. Im more interested in seeing how these people play than how they finished.

Re: Watching the Main Event

Well, no ESPN makes it pretty hard to watch (and pretty hard to get up every morning too) the coverage.

Whatever, it's fun to watch whether I know what happened or not.
