Chips: 901 | | | WSOP Main Event starts today - 12,000 entrants? Is that right? 12,000 players in the ME? Below is a link to the first article I've seen reporting a number and I know it's likely rounded up (or maybe down a bit), but good gracious that's a lot of people! I had a feeling the number of entrants wouldn't decrease drastically from last year, but I never expected 3,000ish more people to show up. Wow. http://www.casinogamblingweb.com/gam...gas_46714.html |

I wonder if Harrington can amke it further this year...liked seeing him the previous years. Also be interesting to see if Raymer can make another good showing as he has the past few years.

"We've been running hard since June 1," said Jeffrey Pollack, commissioner of the World Series of Poker for Harrah's Entertainment. "But the World Series is unique in its ability to capture the world's attention."
Pollack said he would not speculate about whether the main event will approach last year's record 8,773 entrants.
He said the final total "doesn't matter" because of the event's long history and because it is still considered the top poker tournament in the world.
"We've been around for a long time," Pollack said. "We've grown very organically within the poker community." http://www.casinocitytimes.com/news/...ntentID=167237 |

I thought the numbers were going to be going down because of the internet ban.
I can't wait for another great finish by hellmuth! | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | Display Modes | Linear Mode |
