Re: WSOP attendance 2006 vs. 2007

I still think that there will be about 1500 less that last year.

I just want to write this a different way:

What does this tell us? Well, the only significant changes I see are decreases in Pot Limit, Limit, and Stud games, and slight increases in most NLHE (and a big increase in the shoot-out event). I wonder if a lot of players have decided to go for the more glamorous NLHE events. I have a feeling there'll be a large increase in the main event again this year... perhaps $10k is getting to be more affordable, and players would rather save up for the big one than play several of the smaller events. We'll have to wait and see.

Thanks. That is much more reader friendly. As you can see, I did that at 3 AM. I'll keep this updated as the ME approaches.

Re: WSOP attendance 2006 vs. 2007

Looks like many people decided to play PLO instead of LHE this year. Updated with events #33 and #34. So far 9 events dropped in attendance and 11 gained. Considering there are more events this year, total attendance so far has to be up. The main event likely may be bigger once again this year. Can anyone tell I am a self employed accountant with too much time on my hands.

Re: WSOP attendance 2006 vs. 2007

Aren't there more events this year? Was there a heads-up championship before?

42 last year, 55 this year. If you look at the gaps in the event numbers in my spreadsheet, those were new events this year. Heads up, new this year. Multiple H.O.R.S.E. events too. If you were to make the money in every event you entered, you could enter no more than 14 events this year because of the overlap. None of the $5000+ events overlap.

Re: WSOP attendance 2006 vs. 2007

I think the ME will break new records this year...if you see how many Online Room sending a huge pack of players....almost every poker romm is sending players. Plus the direct entrys and the live-satelites..

Re: WSOP attendance 2006 vs. 2007

Another interesting analysis would be size of the prize pool as well, especially for rebuy events.
