We're all aware that amateurs have won the last five WSOP main events. From Varkonyi to Gold with Moneymaker, Raymer and Hachem in between. I've heard both pros and commentators say that a pro will never again win the ME.
Several have come close though. What do you think? Who's the best pro also-ran of the last five years and why?
Please answer poll and discuss.
My vote - Dan 'the man' Harrington. Past ME champion, 2003 and 2004 final table finishes. Smart and a class act. The guy is definitely somebody to gush over.

Disclaimer - I know that many of these are not actually household names, but from what I can tell they were all pros when they made their respective final table appearances in the last five years. Feel free to write-in any personal favorite that I may have missed.

Farha hands down. IMHO he is the gambler stereotype, and so interesting to watch. |

I hope this doesn't come across the wrong way, but it doesn't look like he's "all there" sometimes and then BAM makes an incredible play.
What about Hachem? He was a pro when he won it (I know, I know...it's been discussed at length in a differend thread). I wouldn't vote for him, but.... |

I know that Hachem is debatable, but most of the pros and commentators that I've heard discuss Joe say he was not a pro when he won and include him among the recent amateurs. Quote:

Cunningham is probably the best current pro . But I voted Harrington in a close race. |

I was torn between Harrington and Cunningham. Ended up voting for Harrington though.
