Chips: 6,850 | | | Star Trek poker game -- sheer silliness So I'm sitting around rereading SSHE, and I get to one of my favorite couple of sentences about calling on the river even if you may be beat: "Sometimes you will think that you cannot beat any hand that your opponents could logically have. But many of your opponents do not play logically." I read this to the boyfriend, who says, "yeah, you are not playing against Spock and Tuvok." I say, "That would be an awful game, although I bet I could bluff the hell out of them." (Remember when Data learned how to play poker, and first hand Riker bluffs him?)
OK, so I am a Star Trek geek. But I started thinking about what would be the best and worst ST poker games. I am assuming that anyone from any of the STs could play together: let's say they all find wormholes or time-travel shoot around the sun to make the game!
Worst? (the logic table):
Spock
Tuvok
Data
Sarek
Seven of Nine
T'pal (or however you spell it: vulcan woman on Enterprise)
I can't think of a good "best" game beyond what my boyfriend thought (which might be called the boob table):
Seven of Nine
T'pal
Dax (Jadzia)
Kira
B'lanna
Uhura
Nurse Chapel (Majel Barrett)
Troi
Anyone? (Rereading this: I am SUCH a geek!) |

How about putting Wesley on the Best table so we have some dead money? Remember when he folded 3 jacks in 5 card stud when he thought Riker had a flush?!? WTF was he thinking??

I mean... The episode with T'Pol & the Lotion. That even beats the Golden Leia Bikini

Chips: 6,850 | | | Re: Star Trek poker game -- sheer silliness I love the Star Wars too, but what kind of game could you get? Not much: Han and Lando, but who else? Obi-Wan jedi mind-trick bluffing you? I know, as long as you have bikini Leia and ripped-shirt Padme there, you guys don't care!
BTW, I once made what I thought was a funny (and of course LONG) post about the future of poker as predicted by science fiction. In case you never saw it, link: http://www.chiptalk.net/forum/poker-...ight=year+2000 |

FWIW, the Wikipedia entry on Geordi includes this little tidbit: He enjoyed the senior officer's weekly poker game, and though his artificial "eyes" allowed him to detect bluffing and sometimes see his opponents' cards in the ultraviolet spectrum, he never "peeked" until a hand was over.
