Chips: 205 | | | new chips at WSOP for 2007 I have a feeling that a T50 chip is going to be introduced this year for the main event. From everything I've seen, there will be no reason to have a T25 chip, and I know they are trying to tighten security on chips. I think a T50 would be a perfect workaround.
Any thoughts? |

Any thoughts? | You're joking right?
What about 100-200 (25)?
They still need them for antes...
PS. If you ask me, doubling the stacks is the STUPIDEST thing the WSOP could do. It would be a great thing if the blinds stayed the same, but they're doubling the blinds... so what's the point?!? The point is to have Millions and Millions in tournament value chips in play for TV, just like the WPT, "He's re-raising 1 Million Dollars, Lon!!!" |

I already thought last year was a bit ridiculous with 87 million chips at the final table. Raises & pot totals were almost incomprehensible. Now they will be doubly so. WIth the numbers the ME generates, I do not see the rationale.
But hey, who am I??

Chips: 205 | | | Re: new chips at WSOP for 2007 didn't they get rid of that level? I believe they are going 100-200, then to 200-400, which will run twice with the second time having a 50 ante.
true, they want millions of dollars in chips at the final table, but I think they are worried that there won't be 8700 + players this year like last. I bet it drops to about 4000 this year. Gotta make that up somewhere.
I agree, the main event did not need to be doubled. Neither did the HORSE event. crap they played a 17 hour day last year, that could be longer now with more chips, although they did double the blinds on it also. I think it will best be suited for the smaller buy in events. turns them from a luck factor to a skill factor, well somewhat. Hard to make moves with only 1500 in starting chips.
Guess we will see if all this happens. I'm up for laying or taking odds on the T50 chip and the amount of players in the main event this year. Quote:

| NO, it will not make it more skillful. Why not? Because its the SAME. Just doubled. You can play 25-25 with T1500 or 25-50 with T3000, doesn't change anything.
I'll take a bet with you on whether or not they have a T50 chip... (I'm ripping you off though). I have never heard of a T50 chip in my life. |

I think it will make a difference, but we will see.
I've never seen or heard of a T50 chip either, I'm just wondering if they will come out with it for the Main Event, and the main event only. Every other tournament (major one at least) starts either at 25-50, or 100-200. Have you ever seen one start at 50-100? and the antes start at 50 also. Why have a 25 chip for main event. If you read the thread from a week or so ago, they have removed several levels from the main event and really changed things around. Each event will have it's own set of chips and cards. That will make it interesting.......... |

Heck, have 'em buy-in for $10,000 and give 'em T10 in chips. Starting blinds could be $0.02/$0.04. Whatever...it makes absolutely no difference what the starting stacks are in tournaments; everyone starts out with the same amount of chips. The only reason they're doing this is, as was mentioned (here or at HPT) is for good TV and to give the "big stack" feeling to those who make it deep.
