2006 USPC on ESPN2

Unfortunately, I did not have internet access to post this earlier, but..

Did anyone else catch the 2006 United States Poker Championship at the Taj Mahal on ESPN2 earlier? I'm in EST, and it had 5 "new" episodes on from 6:00 pm until 11:00pm

This was the first time I've caught any of this tournament on TV, has it been on at all? They are using the WSOP announcers (McEachern and Chad) for the event, and the episodes were fairly entertaining, but it's still the run-of-the-mill ESPN poker show, nothing special really. More annoying Jamie Gold coverage.

Yes, I watched pt. 1 and 2 the other night, and I think 3 and 4 was on tonight. Interested in seeing how this plays out.

Re: 2006 USPC on ESPN2

For some reason I absolutely love watching this tournament, more than any other poker besides HSP. I've watched the last couple of years and there is some history that goes with the players and the tournament.

I think Funston is one the names:
I'm gonna bet 2 oranges, 2 purples and 2 greens. Classic!

Also, I LOVE those chips they are using. Are those Paulson's?

Re: 2006 USPC on ESPN2

Funston is back, but not as stupid as last year's tournament.

I absolutely love the color combination with the chips, and I do believe that they are hot stamped solid Paulsons.

Ahh crap. When I flipped it on they were showing 05 so I just figured it was a rerun and never tuned back in. I'll set my Tivo to pick it up.

Those are Paulson's.

Since I loved the colors so much I bought a custom hotstamped set from Blue Chip Company...You could do the same for a pretty good price.

Re: 2006 USPC on ESPN2

At first I was not sure either if this had been on TV, but the copyright of 2007 told me it must be the first run. I saw the first 5 hours last night but don't know when parts 6-12 will be shown.

Jamie Gold talking people out of hands again was classic. Someone is going to figure this out someday and bust his arse.

Re: 2006 USPC on ESPN2

The colors are even better at the beginning!

A lighter green color for the 25, maroonish 100, blurple 500, orange 1000, and I can't really tell the color of the 5000 chip, it's like a mix between green and brown.

Re: 2006 USPC on ESPN2

I caught the last segment only last night. I don't get the allure of this show though. It's boring to watch for me. I'm not at all sure why either. Maybe it's the editing. Lon and Norman don't even seem to be having much fun.

Re: 2006 USPC on ESPN2

I like to watch it because it is more like actually being and/or playing in the tournaments themselves. It can be boring to watch at times, and it is boring to play in alot of the time. It gives you a better perspective of what really happens at deep stack tourneys with large buy ins. There are a ton of uneventful hands, with a few good ones and few laughs mixed in..
