Question Casino Royale final hand plot hole

I stumbled across this on a movie site. Can anyone who has seen the film comment on whether it is true as I can't really remember myself?

"Plot hole: In the final hand of the poker game, everybody is all-in and Bond wins. However, LeChiffre has a greater value of chips, meaning that Bond can only win from each player up the amount he put into the pot. Any money in excess of this should have gone back to Le Chiffre and the game continued between him and Bond. In the movie, Bond wins everything."

Re: Casino Royale final hand plot hole

I saw the movie and can't remember exactly, but I'm pretty sure that Bond has LeChiffre covered by that point. Keep in mind that they probably, much like the WPT, skipped a whole bunch of hands in between...

Great movie, but come on, why is he playing (SPOILER) 5,7s in a TEN MILLION DOLLAR BUY IN tournament? Man, I hope he limped into that pot, and it was checked on the flop & the turn...

Re: Casino Royale final hand plot hole

If I remember correctly several people went all in after the flop. I also wondered why bond was playing such crap hands. Still a good movie, and good chips.

Re: Casino Royale final hand plot hole

the poker was just horrendous. i don't know that you can do good poker in a movie that is for a broad audience. there's just too much exposition necessary and not enough general understanding.

Re: Casino Royale final hand plot hole

The sad part when I saw all the guys go all in, you know bond was gonna win so I told my friend he had 57s before I even saw it. With the 3-4 players going all in, you knew bond had the nuts, so it wasnt to hard to figure that out. from the poker point of the movie I think it sucked pretty bad. They could have made it alot more drama filled. I like how at one point Bond has like 3 chips, then the movie skipps along and shows him as the chip leader. How lame is that?

Re: Casino Royale final hand plot hole

I got yelled at for saying that out loud during the movie. My friends said "I ruined that scene". Similar things happen when you watch movies with engineers or physics grads. One EE that used to live around here worked for American Airlines and had been to just about every airport used to name the airport the scene was actually taking place in rather than the one the director wanted you to think it was.

Oh, we play poker after the movie. I took their money.

So did I! Only difference is that, when he rolled, my wifey looks at me in disbelief and says "Maybe you should play for money more often" - She thought I read him blind! (Even though the plot gave the hand away, certainly not his donkey play).

Question= who was dumber: Bond for playing the hands he did, or the USA for bank rolling him after he busted out (playing crap)?!?!

Re: Casino Royale final hand plot hole

Hehehe.. funny responses.

I think on that last hand, everyone checked the turn, but put it all in on the river?

And on the hand where he busted out, he had AK on a board of J K A J A? That was also pretty obvious that his aces full were going to be busted by quad Jacks. I called that one out too during the movie, but lucky for me I was watching it with someone who likes to guess what's going to happen next.
