Chips: 17,154 | | | doyle on laying down QQ at the horse FT refresher:
doyle and chip reese are big stacks. FT is NLHE. from mp, doyle raises it up with QQ. Chip reese calls in LP (with KK). they see the flop headsup.
flop comes three small cards, three suits. doyle bets. chip raises. doyle folds quickly. poker bulletin boards go nuts.
doyle on the circuit last week:
it was a bad play. when he called me in that spot, i knew he had KK or AA. we were the two big stacks, and he had no reason to get involved with me there. the right play was to check/fold that flop. but when you raise with QQ and the flop comes smal like that, it's hard to not bet out. but the fold was easy after he raised.
discuss. |

Chips: 41 | | | Re: doyle on laying down QQ at the horse FT it seems that players who play at doyle's level do a lot more 'playing the player' than playing the cards. so, it's an easy play when he 'knew he had kk or AA'
well... maybe not easy but, smart anyway. |

How many thousands of hands have those two played together?

I could see it being an easy laydown if Doyle made a decent size raise preflop and then fired big on the flop and Chip and Doyle are 1 and 2 in chips. It depends how deep stacked they are too.
QQ is a great hand but its not the nuts and you have to think about why the chip leader is putting in a big chunk of his stack when you've showed that much strength.
It all depends on how the hand went down though.

Chips: 1,818 | | | Re: doyle on laying down QQ at the horse FT I think Doyle knows how Reese plays. He knows Reese is not going to put his stack in jeopardy against an equally sized stack loosely. When Reese comes over doyles post flop bet, alarms went off in Doyles head.
He probably ran through possible hands that Reese would play in that situation & figured it wouldnt be worth the risk to his stack.
i am not sure i agree with his analysis: " I should have check/folded the flop ". I dont think there is anything wrong with a probing bet post flop.... I mean he has QQ for crying out loud. Maybe Reese lays it down because he bet, but as soon as Reese raises - its pretty much over.
Tough lay down, but think about it.... what would Reese raise with post flop? would he be playing the board? prob not, because he called the bet pre-flop - how often does Reese play junk and then hit two pair on the board? Reese raises the post flop bet, Doyles out of position, its a fold unless you think Reese is playing position and/or bluffing. But if he is, Reese probably would have raised pre-flop. Chances are that he is concealing a huge hand.
The smooth call pre-flop from Reese would have scared me - I would be asking myself why would Reese just call pre-flop... Is he setting me up for taking more money from me?
it comes down to the fact that Doyle knows Reese's play well.
