Re: Greg Raymer for US VP?

BC: Nowadays, do you consider yourself more a poker player than a lawyer?

GR: I don't really consider myself a lawyer at all right now. If the poker boom dies down completely, and I cannot make good income away from the table, then I will likely go back to work as an attorney, but not until then.

HUH?! This guy isn't rich enough to retire, between his WSOP payday, his commercial deals, and other promotional work he does (speaking engagements, etc.).

He said he wasn't gonna quit his job just because of his winnings, but he got offered more from PStars for endorsements than he was making doing his actual job

After Greg won the series he did a keynote at a tournament where I played. His opening statement was something like (heavily paraphrased because of nasty memory).

i was going to come up here and talk about japanese patent law, but you wouldnt care about that, and now neither do I.

Well, who knows how much money he was making as an attorney...My initial guesses was peanuts compared to his big cash, but who knows.

I have heard him say his wife initially didnt like him playing poker, so they agreed on his $1,000 dollar bankroll, and if he ever lost it he wouldnt play, and he said he would often supplement this bankroll from time to time selling fossils to the players etc. etc...Hence, the "fossilman"....something like that

But who knows at what point all this was in his life

Thats an interesting point. I have heard the story as well and was assuming it was recent (like the last 2-3 years). His $1,000 bankroll could have been something he started with 25 years ago when the story origionated as well as the selling of fossils. I started out 2 years ago with a $50.00 Br (thats all my wife would give me). He was lucky to get 1k out of his
