Who got stiffed by Jaime Gold? Spoiler

I have read in other threads about Jaime Gold having part of his winnings withheld so who was his backer that got stiffed?

And who would have backed this guys play, besides a freakin short green guy with a lucky horseshoe.

Re: Who got stiffed by Jaime Gold? Spoiler

I don't think he was a backer but rather, he helped Jamie gold get some celebriteis to wear bodog gear.

Re: Who got stiffed by Jaime Gold? Spoiler

Some guy in CA who he had a partnership with in regards to getting players to wear logo poker gear (not sure which). The report I heard was that there was not a written agreement, but this person has a recorded telephone message telling him that he would get half and it went on to say that you can keep this recording as proof. It will all come out in the wash.....just like the suck-outs he got on the folps...turns....and rivers.....

Re: Who got stiffed by Jaime Gold? Spoiler

It wasn't a backing, I read in Cardplayer the following basic premise.

Jamie Gold was sponsored by Bodog or 888 (can't remember, I know he's with Bodog now) because of his connections, as part of his backing he had to recruit celebrities to play and wear the logos of his sponsor. He met this guy that did all his required recruiting, he was going to let the guy play in his place because the guy did all the work and wanted to play more than Jamie did. Jamie found out he wasn't allowed to transfer his seat to the guy, so he told him he'd split it if he won anything. He called late in the tourney and left him a voicemail telling him, he would still pay him half and not to worry, he could save the recording as proof.

Re: Who got stiffed by Jaime Gold? Spoiler

Here's what Bodog had to say about the Jamie Gold lawsuit:

August 29 - Bodog.com the online gambling giant that sponsored Jamie Gold has issued a statement regarding the lawsuit filed against him by Bruce Crispin Leyser. Jamie Gold won the 2006 WSOP Main Event and the $12 million first prize, but Lesyer has sued him for half those winnings.

"We made the final decision to include Jamie Gold on Team Bodog in the World Series Of Poker due to his aid in setting up our celebrity team, his successful tournament background, and his master-student relationship with Johnny Chan. We are unaware of any side deal he may have made in obtaining these celebrities."

Gold ingratiated himself with Bodog claiming to be a successful former talent agent who could find celebrities for the team. Certain websites like Defamer have since come up with a lot of dirt about Gold, who seems to be an accomplished "bluffer" to say the least.

Re: Who got stiffed by Jaime Gold? Spoiler

Bruce Crispin Leyser (British UK entertainment person) Him and gold were both tournament poker players in the entertainment industry so before the main event they met talking about ideas for shows. Jamie needed his help to get celebrities to wear bodog gear as part of his agreement for bodog to pony up Gold's buy in. They shared the seat and share half the winnings and decided out of the two of them to have jamie play the main event.

I have a copy of the actual filing if anyone's interested (and the response from Gold)

looks like they filed a restraining order to prevent 6 million of the 12 from being transfered to Gold
